10.Men In Black (1997 – 2012)

A police officer joins a secret organization that polices and monitors extra terrestrial interactions on Earth, they also go on numerous mission and cases to save the world. This is action packed, charming, funny with a real story to this film, The characters are likeable and this is sheer entertainment from start to finish.

9.Guardians of The Galaxy (2014 – 2017)

A group of intergalactic criminals must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior with plans to purge the universe and go on a mission to save the planet. A weird type of a film that bring eccentric people together and they got real chemistry, in this space opera as it is a likeable film and this is out of this world experience.

8.Star Trek (2009 – 2016)

The crew of the USS Enterprise explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space and go after numerous enemies and go on different missions. I just like all three films because it have the human elements and there is a real story underneath the visual and the special effort in this gripping trilogy of these films.

7.Serenity

The crew of the ship Serenity try to evade an assassin sent to recapture one of their members who is telepathic. This is a superb and captivating film that will grip you from start to finish and the casting is spot on, in this well-made action packed of a film.

6.Zathura: A Space Adventure

Two young brothers are drawn into an intergalactic adventure when their house is hurled through the depths of space by the magical board game they are playing. A wonderful and a magical film that present characters you actually care for, the visual and the special effect are stunning and out of this world and the storytelling is excellent.

5.Earth To Echo

After receiving a bizarre series of encrypted messages, a group of kids embark on an adventure with an alien who needs their help. A magical and a heartfelt tale that is based on friendships and actually being there for someone that beyond boundaries, it also focused on moving on in life and the non-professional cast are superb and the visual and the special effect is astounding and this is a well meaning film, it just like a indie version of ET and a coming of age film but with a found footage type of film.

4.Monsters Vs Aliens

A woman transformed into a giant after she is struck by a meteorite on her wedding day becomes part of a team of monsters sent in by the U.S government to defeat an alien mastermind trying to take over Earth. I personally love this film because of the message that appearances isn’t anything and learning to accept each other, it also have colourful characters that you connect with and brilliant star-studded voice cast and they are absolutely hilarious.

3.Apollo 13

NASA must devise a strategy to return Apollo 13 to Earth safely after the spacecraft undergoes massive internal damage putting the lives of the three astronauts on board in jeopardy. A thought-provoking story that is generally tense and all the characters in the film is really good and well-acted, the premise is really good and it given you the true account of what actually happen as this based on a true story.

2.WALL- E

In the distant future, a small waste collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind. One of PIXAR finest animation film that blended all the element of a film that you would connect with, it is generally attractive to look at and the cinematography is majestic to look at in this emotionally engaging film that you would root for and a beautiful story as well.

1.Gravity

Dr Ryan Stone is a medical engineer on her first shuttle mission. Her commander is veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky, helming his last flight before retirement. Then, during a routine space walk by the pair, disaster strikes. This film is generally tense from start to finish and the acting is amazing and their chemistry work really well, the visual and the special effort is absolutely amazing with a thoughtful story that will keep you gripped.

  1. Now, you have come to a genre that I do know. I agree with your No. 1 – Gravity. But I think you have missed some classics. I’m happy to recommend the following films:
    Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049
    12 Monkeys
    The Fly (David Cronenberg version)
    Quatermass and the Pit (old film but still classic)
    All the Alien films
    2001 A Space Odyssey
    Close Encounters of the Third Kind
    Arrival
    Cloverfield (makes invasion look like a documentary)
    Donnie Darko
    Interstellar
    Inception
    The Matrix
    Robocop
    The Martian
    Shwarzeneger in Total Recall and the Terminator series
    And if you want family friendly . . . . E.T. and the Men in Black series.
    I’m sure that you have seen some of these, but if you only have time for one, go for Quatermass and the Pit – way ahead of its time and still a classic.
