Two lighthouse keepers try to maintain their sanity whilst on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. Firstly I admire the way that the film look different and it set in black and white and really capture the silent black and white era, it got potential to be an amazing film but the film is far too weird, no characters development and it is thinly plotted as well and the acting is unconvincing, It is a massive letdown for me personally.
Years following the events of The Shining (1980), a now adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal. This meant to be a psychological horror but it not really lingers in people mind and there is no shock value or any jumpy scenes, this is far too safe and trying to surprise people but the original Shining is far more superior and generally creepy and that certainly mess with people mind, not this at all and the casting is just okay but the premise is an interesting one but it couldn’t quite do it
A Whisker Away
Miyo Sasaki is in love with her classman Kendo Hinode and tries repeatedly to get Kendo’s attention by transforming into a cat, but at some point, the boundary between herself and the cat becomes ambiguous. I’m normally really into this type of animation and I’m a fan but this one is the weakest as it got an overcomplicated story and the message get lost in this film, the characters is rather hard to liked and it is sort of in the middle by the end of this film.
The Secret Gardens (2020)
Mary Lennox is born in India to wealthy British parents who never wanted her. When her parents suddenly die, she is sent back to England to live with her uncle. She meets her sickly cousin, and the two children find a wondrous secret garden lost in the grounds of Misselthwaite Manor. From the start of this film it is rather compelling and watchable with a talented newcomer, but after that it is slight uneven and we just left with unanswered questions and less convincing, this film is well intentioned enough.
The Life Ahead
In seaside Italy, a Holocaust survivor with a daycare business takes in a 12-year-old street kid who recently robbed her. This film might be too slow for some people but it is a slow burner film that silently devastating and you would connect with these characters, all the casting is spot on with stunning cinematography and it is certainly poignancy and generally moving at the same time, in this well paced and a watchable film, the only thing is we didn’t know what the main boy background is and it can leave you with unanswered questions.
My Neighbor Totoro
When two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby. This is a usual and an odd film that mixed in with family drama and fantasy mixed in one, This is so beautiful and moving and you can connect with these people and their situation. The story is brilliantly told with innocent humor in this jaw dropping scenery and the way it looks, It definitely is a masterpiece in this slow burner type of film and it is definitely poignancy and it suitable for all ages.
