10.The Witches

A young boy stumbles onto a witch convention and must stop them, even after he has been turned into a mouse. One of my personal favorite childhood films as it blended all the scary elements into the comedy aspect, which work really well and Rowan Atkinson is superb and with comic timing. Anjelica Houston is commanded as the Grand High Witch and the little kid is likeable enough, it definitely not for the younger generation but it has got a fantastic story which is easy to follow.

9.In Time

In a future where people stop aging at 25, but are engineered to live only one more year, having the means to buy your way out of the situation is a shot at immortal youth. If you are really into your futuristic action film this is ideal for you, it is action packed with thrill ride type of film. It also has a backstory that is thought provoking and it not too overcomplicated and the villain is certainly sinister, the acting is convincing in this enjoyable film.

8.Dark Water

A corporate defense attorney takes on an environmental lawsuit against a chemical company that exposes a lengthy history of pollution. I am not normally a massive Mark Ruffalo fan but this film is superior with a hint of mystery and it is unpredictable, the casting is excellent in a gripping, suspense that just wowed you and people will not know the story as much, this is the key to this film success.

7.The Mountain Between Us

Stranded after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow-covered mountain. Fantastic cinematography and with the acting which made this a must watched, it is one of those film that automatically drawn you in from the start to the finish and it sort of like a survive love story that is so unpredictable. A good premise that is so watchable and it will wowed you this film.

6.Knives Out

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85^th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. A different murder mystery film which is one of the best Daniel Craig film and it has the humor of a dark satire type of film, there is a lot of colorful characters which is superbly acted in a superbly made film.

5.Motherless Brooklyn

In 1950s New York, a lonely private detective afflicted with Tourette’s Syndrome ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend. It is one of those film that slip under the radar as it is not too overcomplicated and it is very clever, a star studded cast that ensembles with a thoroughly entertaining thought-provoking film. It is Oscar worthy as it is sensitively handed with a great premise, the ending is sincere and really moving and definitely you will enjoy this.

4.Bolt

The canine star of a fictional sci – fi/ action show that believes his powers are real embarks on a cross country trek to save his co – star from a threat he believes is just as real. With a mixture of The Truman Show and The Incredible you got Bolt, this film is a coming-of-age type of film and it is exhilarating and generally exciting at the same time. The characters are relatable and the good thing is people will adore this pure of escapism and it just a really nice film.

3.Monster House

Three teenagers, DJ, Chowder and Jenny think that after mean old man Nebbercracker died from a heart attack at his house, they all think it’s over, but they are wrong. From the mind of Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis come up with a brilliant multi layered story that bring you a funny, inventive, thrilling and charming little film, it is rather similar to Up which is an animation film in the final third of this film, I am sure this will be a future hit.

2.Balloon (2018)

East Germany,1979. After initially failing to flee from the East to the West in a self – built hot – air balloon, two families struggle to make a second attempt, while the East Germany State Police are chasing them. Definitely one of the best films that I encounter and I was not expected to be this good, it is tense, suspense, unpredictable and exciting at the same time. It is sincere and moving with great casting and with a fantastic story that is utterly compelling and totally unpredictable, it is definitely a worthwhile viewing and I highly recommended it.

1.Paddington (2014 – 2017)

Paddington having settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, has become popular in his community, offering people emotional support in various ways. The reason why I put this first it has all the element of a family film that is suitable for all ages and even adults, wonderful slapstick of comedy made this winning film so successful and the character Paddington is really cute and well meaning. Both films have wonderful baddies in Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant as they are brilliant, it is certainly worthwhile to revisit these films.
