10.Tenet

Armed with only one word, Tenet, and fighting for the survival of the entire world, a Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time. A well-made futuristic action film that will made you think and it got an all-star cast, I really admire this film as it tries to be something different and the visual in this film is outstanding, it is totally unpredictable and the idea and the intention to this film is brilliant.

9.Terminator 2: Judgment Day

A cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her 10-year-old son John from an even more advanced and powerful cyborg. It might be rather dated but the visual is amazing and eye catching, the soundtrack is memorable and the acting is convincing and totally believable, it also has got a brilliant villain and the film in general is certainly memorable from start to finish, it is one of those film that is old fashioned but it certainly works with this film.

8.War Of The Worlds

An alien invasion threatens the future of humanity. The catastrophic nightmare is depicted through the eyes of one American family fighting to survival. Being a Steven Spielberg film, this is an underrated film, it is well casted and the story is there and this can be generally powerful, this is silently one of the best Tom Cruise films and the film itself will drawn you in from the start, it feels epic and this film does hold your interest and it never feel boring as it is perfectly paced.

7.Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens

As a new threat to the galaxy rises, Rey, a desert scavenger, and Finn, an ex-stormtrooper, must join Han Solo and Chewbacca to search for the one hope of restoring peace. Eye catching and action-packed film which never loses the story, it also didn’t take itself too seriously and this is generally funny, the characters are great and they are memorable as the CGI/SFX is astonishing, especially the space element as it silently watchable, this is pure escapism and this is exciting.

6.Arrival

A linguist works with the military to communicate with alien lifeforms after twelve mysterious spacecraft appear around the world. Didn’t know what to expect from this film but I was surprised by this, the acting is believable and, in some ways, this isn’t your average science fiction film which I admire, it does hold your interest and overall, this is intriguing and totally unpredictable, this is thought provoking and it does make you think and that is the key to this film success.

5.Transformers (2007 – 2011)

An ancient struggle between two Cybertronian races, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, comes to Earth, with a clue to the ultimate power held by a teenager. Fantastic looking films and all these films are consistent, underneath the action there is a brilliant story and with likeable characters, these are entertaining and these films didn’t take itself too seriously and the set pieces is truly spectacular, the pacing is excellent and it doesn’t feel rushed and for me personally it certainly work on all elements.

4.i, Robot

In 2035, a technophobic cop investigates a crime that may have been perpetrated by a robot, which leads to a larger threat to humanity. Having watched this on the cinema and I thought wowed, this is thought provoking and make you think at the same time and this is generally exciting, it also unpredictable and it slowly drawn you in as this has got a good story and it is well casted, overall, this is intriguing and this is a superbly made film.

3.The Mitchells Vs The Machines

A quirky, dysfunctional family’s road trip is upended when they find themselves in the middle of the robot apocalypse and suddenly become humanity’s unlikeliest last hope. Give this film a chance and this will surprise you, the vocal in this film is spot on and brim with comic one liner as this is generally heartfelt, this doesn’t feel forced or too sentimental as this is silently move you and this is funny, it is one of those film that is totally different and that is the reason why I like this.

2.Ghostbusters Afterlife

When a single mum and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. Just breath-taking as this is a slow burner coming of age film, it also a mixture of science fiction element and that does work and often this is hilarious, you would care about with these characters as they are likeable, the visual and the CGI/SFX is certainly spectacular as this is a beautiful film.

1.Lightyear

Legendary space ranger Buzz Lightyear embarks on an intergalactic adventure alongside ambitious recruits Izzy, Mo, Darby and his robot companion, Sox. As this motley crew tackles their toughest mission yet. Calming type of film as this is quietly powerful and it will move you at the same time. It might not be ground-breaking, but this is suitable for all ages and a family viewing type of film which is funny, this is pure escapism and this is a rainy-day type of film and this is so underrated.

  1. I know I added an extensive list when you did the first volume, but here are some more to add:
    1. Dune 2021 – more detailed than the first version
    2. Galaxy Quest (1999) – the cast of a sci-fi tv space opera meet real aliens.
    3. Forbidden Planet (1956) – Based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
    4. The Martian (2015) – Matt Damon stars as astronaut left behind on Mars.
    5. Mars Attacks (1996) – Spoof comedy of Earth invasion
    6. Solyent Green (1973) – Sci fi drama about the source of new super food.
