Mini Film Review Volume 65

One True Loves

A woman is unexpectedly forced to choose between the husband she has long thought dead and the fiancé who has finally brought her back to life. I’m into romantic type of film so I thought I might enjoy this film, but unfortunately it doesn’t work as there are too many flashbacks and it becomes too overcomplicated, the characters are not likeable and this seems rather forced and too sentimental, the story is rather weak and it is one of those film that is hard to get into from start to finish.

True Spirit

The story of Australian teenage, Jessica Watson, the youngest person ever to sail solo, non – stop around the world. This film has got potential and it based on a true story which normally I like in a film, the thing is it feel like a one off television program and it lacking the emotional aspect, it not quite uplifting or inspirational as this is too safe and too predictable and it doesn’t really deliver, that is a real shame as I wanted to like this film but this is not relatable.

Eternal Beauty

After Jane falls into a state of despair over her schizophrenia, she encounters new sources of love and life with surprising results. Firstly, I really like the story to this film as this is another film which has got great potential, it doesn’t really work as this is too bleak and too depressing as it needed to be uplifting, I personally think with this film it didn’t really have those elements of the lighter aspect with the darker moment, it is a let down because of those reasons.

Pavarotti (2019)

Filmmaker Ron Howard examines the life and career of famed opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, featuring never seen footage, concert performances and intimate interviews with family and colleagues. Personally, I was surprised with this documentary as this is silently powerful and once it got going this is a superb documentary, it is joyous, sad, and uplifting all in one as this is a crowd pleaser, it might not gel or flow together at first, but this will leave you a lasting impression on you.

The Tunnel (2019)

When a truck crashes inside a tunnel, people on their way home for Christmas are brutally trapped in a deadly fire. With a blizzard raging outside, and the first responders struggling to get to the accident, it’s every man for himself. A slow burner disasters film which will move you as this got amazing scenery, this is Norwegian and with subtitle but don’t let this put you off as the characters are relatable, it has got a pacing problem as some parts doesn’t hold your interest but if you get past that this a good film, this is well-made and this deserve a chance.

Ticket To Paradise

A divorce couple teams up and travels to Bali to stop their daughter from making the same mistake they think they made 25 years ago. Might be too predictable for some people but it never feels too forced or too sentimental, the casting is spot on and especially the chemistry between Julia Roberts and George Clooney, this can be laugh out loud funny and this is genuinely heartfelt and it will made you smile, the good thing with this film it didn’t take itself too seriously and this is fun, it also a feel – good type of film and overall this is a nice film.
