Songs My Brothers Taught Me

With an older brother in jail and living with their single mother on Pine Ridge Reservation, Johnny and his sister Jashuan’s lives develop new challenges when their absentee cowboy father suddenly dies. The loss prompts Johnny to strike out for Los Angeles, but would mean leaving behind his beloved sister. Firstly, I wanted to like this film and the story is great, but unfortunately this isn’t as memorable as it should be, the characters are hard to like and it simply doesn’t really move you, the pacing is off as it doesn’t hold you interest, for me personally it didn’t exactly deliver and overall, it doesn’t really work.

Petite Maman

Nelly has just lost her grandmother and is helping her parents clean out her mother’s childhood home. She explores the house and the surrounding woods. One day she meets a girl her age building a tree – house. I really wanted to connect with this film and I wanted to like this as well, this is another film which the pacing is off and it doesn’t hold your interest, it also not memorable as it should be, it lacks the emotional aspect as you don’t feel anything for these characters, with these flaws in this film you wouldn’t get into it from the start.

Past Lives

Nora and Hae Sung, two deeply connected childhood friends, are wrested apart after Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea. Twenty years later, they are reunited for one fateful week as they confront notions of love and destiny. The chemistry between the two stars is superb and the story is perfect, I personally believe it about growing up and looking back on your childhood, I’m sure people will connect with this message, it might not leave you a lasting impression on you and it doesn’t gel or flow together as much, this is a well-made film.

Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget

Having pulled off an escape from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger has found a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock. But back on the mainland the whole of chicken – kind faces a new threat, and Ginger and her team decide to break in. Personally it’s the characters of the two rats that voiced by Romesh Ranganathan and Daniel Mays, them two provides the laugh and comic one liner in this film, the story is there and it is action packed, but it never loses the story itself, the thing is with this film it rather safe and it doesn’t offer anything new, not all of the film work as it running out of ideas toward the end, despite that this is enjoyable.

Cool Runnings

When a Jamaican sprinter is disqualified from the Olympic Games, he enlists the help of a dishonoured coach to start the first Jamaican Bobsled Team. A crowd pleaser film that will made you smile by the end, the ending is superb as this can be funny in certain places, it is well casted and especially John Candy as he is totally convincing in his role, the thing is with this film it doesn’t gel or flow together from the start, despite that this is entertaining and watchable.

I Kill Giants

Twelve-year-old Barbara Thorson flees from reality, living in the imaginary world of fantasy and magic, where she fights with giants. Her family does not understand her, peers do not like her and she irritates teachers. And only recently moved here Sofia, her same age, trying to make friends with her. Once you watched this it will leave you a lasting impression on you, this is quietly powerful and this is relatable, I personally connect with this film as the message is facing your inner demon and deals with your insecurities, I’m sure people will connect with this film, this is like a drama/ fantasy coming of age film that will touch your heart, the acting is amazing and this is a wonderful and beautiful film.

I have to say I liked Songs my Brother taught Me.
I’m not sure I would give Cool Runnings 4 stars; 3 tops.
Like music, films is all about different opinions.

That is fair as we both like the director as well, I see why you give Cool Running three star as the film itself is rather predictable
