Mini Film Review Volume 76

The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years

A compilation of found footage featuring music, interviews, and stories of The Beatles’ 250 concerts from 1963 to 1966. A watchable documentary with a load of catchy songs and this is well made, the thing is with this documentary it skims the surface and it doesn’t offer you anything new, this isn’t a bad documentary but I feel this is rather safe, despite that this is worth a look.

Allied

In 1942, a Canadian intelligence officer in North Africa encounters a female French Resistance fighter on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. When they reunite in London, their relationship is tested by the pressures of war. Personally, I really like the story to this film, it has got a superb ending and the final third of this film will move you, for me personally this has got a pacing problem as some of it doesn’t really hold your interest, there is a lot of sex in this film and I would rather focusing on the historical aspect, but despite that this is intriguing and watchable.

Good Grief

When his husband unexpectedly dies, Marc’s world shatters, sending him and his two best friends on a soul – searching trip to Paris that reveals some hard truths they each needed to face. Firstly, this is a LGBTQ type of film with is important, the story is there and this is well casting and the pacing is perfect, you wanted to go on a journey with these characters and it doesn’t quite work, it not as uplifting or a feel-good experience as it should be, for me personally it lacks the emotional aspect but this is still a likeable film.

The Last Rifleman

A WWII veteran escapes his care home in Northern Ireland and embarks on an arduous but inspirational journey to France to attend the 75th anniversary of the D- Day landings, finding the courage to face the ghosts of his past. Likeable film which silently drawn you in from start to finish, this is character driven and the acting is amazing and totally believable. In some ways this film doesn’t gel of flow together as much, despite that it will silently move you and this is a good and a watchable film.

The Marsh King’s Daughter

A woman with a secret past will venture into the wilderness she left behind to confront the most dangerous man she’s ever met: her father. Too be honest with you this film surprise me as this is totally unpredictable, it never gets too overcomplicated with the flashback elements and this is quietly powerful, the acting is outstanding and you generally care with these characters, for me personally it’s the ending that is rather weak, I think personally this film will surprise people.

The Book Of Life

Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart, embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastic worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Wonderful animation film that will touch people heart, this is laugh out loud funny as the characters are great, the ideal behind this film is superb and this is eye catching from the start, it deals with life and death plus people will connect with that aspect, it will leave you a lasting impression on you and this is memorable.
