An embattled NYPD detective is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers after uncovering a massive and unexpected conspiracy. With this film it blended the action, crime, and mystery all in one, for me personally it certainly works as this is a well-made film, the story is there and this is well casted, it might not be groundbreaking but it still a good film.

9.The Good Nurse

Parkland Memorial Hospital, New Jersey, 2003, An infamous caregiver is implicated in the deaths of hundreds of hospital patients. Being based on a true story that made this film intriguing from start to finish, the main two lead got excellent chemistry together and the acting is totally believable, it is like a mystery and a crime element that blended in, it pays respect to those people who inspired this film, I think personally this film will surprise many people.

8.Boston Strangler (2023)

Loretta McLaughlin was the reporter who first connected the murders and broke the story of the Boston Strangler. She and Jean Cole challenged the sexism of the early 1960s to report on the city’s most notorious serial killer. It may lack the psychological element to this film but if you get past that, this is quietly powerful and the acting is amazing, it got the crime aspect and the mystery element as well and that work perfectly, it will silently draw you in from the start.

7.From Hell

After five ritualistic murders are committed in 1888 London, Inspector Abberline’s assignment is to investigate the “Jack The Ripper” murders. Along with a string of mutilated prostitutes, he uncovers a conspiracy involving the government. Unpredictable film and the two-lead got superb chemistry together, it has got theme of crime and mystery element within the film, if you get past the brutal aspect this has got a good story, overall, this is a superb film.

6.Pokemon: Detective Pikachu

In a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective. A kid’s version of a crime and mystery film that blended in with the action aspect, this is entertaining and funny at the same time but it still heartfelt, it might not be for everyone but it tries to be something different, this is a rainy-day type of film.

5.A Haunting In Venice

In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a séance. But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to uncover the killer once again. Might not use Venice as much as it should do with the scenery aspect, it slowly draws you in from start to finish as this got the psychological edge, this is like a crime and a mystery all in one, it got an all star cast and they all convince in their roles, this is superb.

4.Murder On The Orient Express

When a murder occurs on the train on which he’s travelling, celebrated detective Hercule Poirot is recruited to solve the case. Personally, the flashback element never gets too overcomplicated and that is the key, the casting is perfect and the twist to this film is brilliant, this is silently watchable and it does hold your interest, it got that sense of a mystery with some crime aspect, this is good.

3.Death On The Nile

Egypt, 1937. While on vacation on the Nile, Hercule Poirot must investigate the murder of a young heiress. Eye catching film with stunning scenery and this has got an all-star cast, the ending is clever and this feel epic and totally unpredictable, the mystery is there with the crime elements that work perfectly, if you wanted a perfect five stars crime and mystery film, this is ideal for you.

2.The Pale Blue Eye

A world-weary detective is hired to investigate the murder of a West Point cadet. Stymied by the cadet code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case – a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe. Gorgeous looking film with a clever twist at the end of this film, it like a gothic tale of crime and mystery that blended in, it is a slow burner type of film that will wow you, this will move you as this is quietly powerful, it is memorable.

1.Motherless Brooklyn

In 1950s New York, Lionel, a private detective with Tourette syndrome, sets out to uncover the mystery behind his mentor and only friend Frank’s murder. Scouring the Jazz clubs and slums of Brooklyn, he soon uncovers a web of secret. Too be honest with you I was surprised with this film, the ending is powerful and it will move you and this is well casted, it will leave you a lasting impression on you, the mystery is there with a crime aspect, this is a perfectly paced film.

    Dog Day Afternoon (1975) Three amateur bank robbers plan to hold up a bank. A nice simple robbery: Walk in, take the money, and run. Unfortunately, the supposedly uncomplicated heist suddenly becomes a bizarre nightmare as everything that could go wrong does.

    The Conversation (1974) A paranoid, secretive surveillance expert has a crisis of conscience when he suspects that the couple he is spying on will be murdered.

    The Manchurian Candidate (1962) An American POW in the Korean War is brainwashed as an unwitting assassin for an international Communist conspiracy.

    Mississippi Burning (1988) Two F.B.I. Agents with wildly different styles arrive in Mississippi to investigate the disappearance of some civil rights activists.

    The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (1974) Four armed men hijack a New York City subway car and demand a ransom for the passengers. The city’s police are faced with a conundrum: Even if it’s paid, how could they get away?
