10.Alfie (Charles Shyer)
Alfie is quite the ladies’ man and rarely gets rejected when it comes to the opposite sex. He successfully has relations with multiple women without a hint of emotional attachment. It might not be for everyone taste but this is enjoyable, the main lead is likeable as this is light-hearted and the story is spot on, it might not be groundbreaking, but this is still a good film which is well made.
9.Hotel For Girls (Thor Freudenthal)
Two mischievous orphans as they attempt to hide dozens of stray dogs in an abandoned hotel. Disheartened by their new guardians’ announcement that pets are strictly forbidden. Just heartwarming as this is a cute film, some people will like this and some don’t as this will divide people, this is an inoffensive film that is suitable for a family viewing, it also easy to watch.
8.Zathura: A Space Adventure (Jon Favreau)
Two young brothers are drawn into an intergalactic adventure when their house is hurled through the depths of space by the magical board game they are playing. Having watched this film on the cinema and I first thought wowed, the CGI/SFX is truly outstanding and eye catching as well, it might be action packed but it never loses the story itself, in some ways this film is entertaining.
7.Jumanji (Joe Johnston)
When two kids find and play a magical board game, they release a man trapped in it for decades and a host of dangers that can only be stopped by finishing the game. Got to be one of the best Robin Williams films, it has got a clever ending and the film in general is exciting, the CGI/SFX is amazing and that what draws you in, it might be rather dated but it still entertaining.
6.Earth To Echo (Dave Green)
After receiving a bizarre series of encrypted messages, a group of kids embark on an adventure with an alien who needs their help. Fantastic looking coming of age film that will move you, the ending is powerful and you will care about with these characters, for me personally this film is so underrated and it slowly draws you in, plus this is one of the best adventure films, it also a beautiful film.
5.United 93 /2006 (Paul Greengrass)
A real time account of the events on United Flight 93, one of the planes hijacked on September 11th, 2001, that crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania when passengers foiled the terrorist plot. Could be rather full on as this can be hard to watch for certain people, it is intriguing from start to finish as this is unpredictable, in some ways this surprise me, this will move you as well.
4.She Said (Maria Schrader)
New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor’s quest to break the Harvey Weinstein scandal. Don’t judge this film on this sensitive topic, despite can be hard to watch for certain people, plus once you watch this you will always remember this. It will creep you under your skin as this has got the psychological element, if you into journalist type of film, this is ideal for you.
3.Beauty And The Beast (Bill Condon)
A selfish prince is cursed to become a monster for the rest of his life, unless he learns to fall in love with a beautiful young woman he keeps prisoner. Everything about this film ticked all the boxes it has got a memorable villain, it has got great characters, plus the musical set pieces is truly spectacular, it is eye catching and the chemistry between the two lead is superb, overall, this film is memorable and it got catchy tunes, if you into musical type of film, you will like this.
2.Mulan (Niki Caro)
To keep her ailing father from serving in the Imperial Army, a fearless young woman disguises herself as a man and battles northern invades in China. Being a feminism type of film which is important, the set pieces are brilliant as this is action packed, it never loses the story itself plus it didn’t take itself too seriously, it got that emotional aspect and this is watchable and enjoyable.
1.Kubo And The Two Strings (Travis Knight)
A young boy named Kubo must locate a magical suit of armour worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past. Amazing scenery with stunning visual as this is eye catching, you will care about with these characters and it will leave you a lasting impression on you, the ending is powerful and it will move you, the story is easy to follow and this is easy to watch.
