The Canterville Ghost (2023)

An American family moves into Canterville Chase, a stately countryside mansion that has been haunted by the ghost of Sir Simon De Canterville for 300 years. Firstly, this film has got a fantastic story and the idea behind this film is superb, it got an all star cast as the vocal is rather good. But unfortunately this isn’t laugh out loud funny and it not as charming, it has got great potential and that is a real shame, it could have been a good film and this doesn’t really deliver.

Queen Of Katwe

A Ugandan girl named Phiona sees her world rapidly change after being introduced to the game of chess. A well-made film with a likeable lead as the acting is totally believable, it like an underdog type of film and this is generally powerful, the ending is superb despite the first hour doesn’t gel and flow together, it not as uplifting as it should be, but despite that this is still a good film.

Lady Bird

In 2002, an artistically inclined 17-year-old girl named Christine comes of age in Sacramento, California. Being a coming of age of film which I normally like those type of film, it is intriguing from start to finish as this is easy to watch, it has got some nice moment in this film. It not as uplifting as it should be and it doesn’t leave you a lasting impression on you, despite that this is watchable and this is well casted.

Million Dollar Arm

A sports agent stages an unconventional recruitment strategy to get talented Indian cricket players to play Major League Baseball. Calming type of film that will made you smile, the humour to this film never gets too over the top and that is the key, it also uplifting and joyous and it doesn’t take itself too seriously, the casting is perfect and Alan Arkin is hilarious in this role, the only thing is the pacing is slightly off, overall, this film is easy to watch.

La La Land

While navigating their careers in Los Angeles, a pianist and an actress fall in love while attempting to reconcile their aspirations for the future. Don’t judge this film at all, as it got amazing musicals set pieces and the soundtrack is outstanding, the chemistry between the main two lead is spot on, for me personally the pacing is slightly off, plus the ending is clever, you will always remember this film as this is memorable.

Pete’s Dragon (2016)

The adventures of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who happens to be a dragon. Everything about this film ticked all the boxes, the CGI/SFX look realistic, the story is there and you will care about with these characters, the scenery look spectacular as this is eye catching. This never feels forced or too sentimental, it will leave you a lasting impression on you as this is memorable, the acting is stunning and this is suitable for a family viewing film.
