Mini Film Reviews Volume 91

Meet Cute

What would you do if you could travel to your loved ones’ past, heal their traumas, fix their problems, and change them into the perfect partner? I admire this film that try to be something different, the idea and the story behind this film is superb. But unfortunately this isn’t as memorable as it should be. Plus the film in general seems rather rushed, it could have been something special but with these flaws it hard to get into with this film, that is a real shame as it got great potential.

Uproar

A 17-year-old student is forced to get off the fence he has actively sat on all his life to stand up for himself, his Whanau (family) and his future in this heartwarming story of identity. Personally, I like all the genre of coming of age and finding yourself, I also like the story of this film. I just feel in general this seems rather safe and too predictable, it also feel too sentimental as well despite it has got great potential, for me personally it just doesn’t deliver at all.

White Fang (1991)

Jack London’s classic adventure story about the friendship developed between a Yukon gold hunter and the mixed dog – wolf he rescues from the hands of a man who mistreats him. With stunning scenery and the pacing is just perfect, it can be funny in places as well. The film in general isn’t as subtle as it supposed to be. Overall, this doesn’t gel or flow together as much, this is still good with some nice moment in this film, it silently draws you in from the start.

Madame Web

Forced to confront her past, Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic that may have clairvoyant abilities, forms a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures, if they can survive their threatening present. Too be honest with you I was surprised with this film, this is good with a slow burner type of film, it can be rather overcomplicating and not as much fun, despite that the casting is perfect as this is a well-made film.

One Life

Sir Nicholas “Nicky” Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to World War II, rescued over 600 children from Nazi – occupied Czechoslovakia. One of those film that will drawn you in from start to finish, it is silently powerful and it will leave you a lasting impression on you, the only thing is. The younger version of the main lead is nothing like Anthony Hopkins character as he is slightly bland, despite that it will surprise many people.

The Incredibles

While trying to lead a quiet suburban life, a family of undercover superheroes are forced into action to save the world. Got to be one of the best Pixar films as this is action packed, it also doesn’t feel too hyperactive as this is characters driven as it can be funny. The vocal in this film is superb as it brims with comic one liner, it is entertaining and it will made you smile at the same time, this is suitable for all ages and a family viewing type of film.
