10.The Flash

Barry Allen uses his super speed to change the past, but his attempt to save his family creates a world without superheroes, forcing him to race for his life in order to save the future. The set pieces are outstanding and a thrill ride type of film, normally with superheroes film they can be fun but this one take itself too seriously, in general this film feels rather rushed and the villain not as memorable, overall, this is a well-made action film but in general this feel rather weak.
9.Songs My Brothers Taught Me

Two siblings living on Pine Ridge Reservation face challenges after their father’s death. The brother considers leaving for LA, but it would mean separating from his beloved sister. With Chloe Zhao films they normally have stunning scenery, it also a slow burner type of film which I’m a fan of, I just feel in general it doesn’t leave you a lasting impression on you. For me personally it hard to care about with these characters, it got great potential but it doesn’t work.
8.The Green Knight

An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, retelling of the medieval story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Another director who normally focus on the stunning scenery aspect, underneath the surreal moment in this film it has got a fantastic story, the ending is rather weak and the film itself doesn’t draw you in, I wanted to like this film and it hard to get into it.
7.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

The Turtle brothers work to earn the love of New York City while facing down an army of mutants is unleashed upon them. One of those film which the animation itself looks gorgeous, the villain in this film is certainly memorable. But unfortunately it is too action packed and it is is too hyperactive and it never calm down, in some ways this isn’t as subtle as it needed that in this film, with these flaws this is a letdown and it could have been something special.
6.Whale Rider

A contemporary story of loss, rejection and triumph as a young Māori girl fight to fulfil a destiny her grandfather refuses to recognize. Personally, I like all the genre of coming of age, finding yourself and adolescence, plus the scenery looks gorgeous. For me personally this feel rather forced and too sentimental, the characters are hard to like, this is such a shame with this film.
5.All Of Us Strangers

A screenwriter drawn back to his childhood home enters into a fledgling relationship with his downstairs neighbour while discovering a mysterious new way to heal from losing his parents 30 years on. I admire this film that try to be something different. I also like the aspect of LGBTQ aspect with this film, this is another film which I couldn’t get into, I don’t think there is much chemistry between the two main stars, there is too many ideas with this film, it is such a shame.
4.Dune

Paul Atreides arrive on Arrakis after his father accepts the stewardship of the dangerous planet. However, chaos ensures after a betrayal as forces clash to control melange, a precious resource. Star studded cast in this well-made film. It certainly feels rather epic as this is eye catching from start to finish, for me personally this feels rather overcomplicated, also the pacing isn’t quite there and it falters in the middle, despite that the story is there as this attractive to look at.
3.Dumbo

A young elephant, whose oversized ears enable him to fly, helps save a struggling circus, but when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath its shiny veneer. Being an animal’s lover so I thought I going to enjoy this. It has got an all star cast and they all convince in their roles, I just feel in general Tim Burton is out of his element, it might be eye catching but it lacks the emotional aspect, with this flaws this is a major letdown.
2.Joker

Arthur Fleck, a party clown and a failed stand – up comedian, leads an impoverished life with his ailing mother. However, when society shuns him and brands him as a freak, he decides to embrace the life of chaos in Gotham City. Even the story and the idea behind this film is superb. It is totally unpredictable and that is the key, for me personally it lacks the psychological element despite it needed it in this film, I also think Joaquin Phoenix didn’t suit as the main lead, it could have been something special if they thought about it.
1.A Bug’s Life

A misfit ant, looking for “warriors” to save his colony from greedy grasshoppers, recruits a group of bugs that turn out to be an inept circus troupe. Calming type of film with fantastic characters. It has got a cute story, but unfortunately this isn’t laugh out loud funny, normally with Pixar films they normally have important message, with this one it doesn’t and it doesn’t gel or flow together as much, with these flaws it feels like one of the weakest Pixar films.
Number 1 in this category has to be Nocturnal Animals. The worst film we ever saw.
I liked Dune parts 1 and 2, and looking forward to part 3.
