Mini Film Reviews Volume 93

High Crimes

A successful lawyer’s husband is arrested for murdering nine villagers in El Salvador in 1988 as a US soldier under a different name. She decides to defend him in military court and find out the truth about what happen. The acting is amazing and especially Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd, this also well casted as well as it does draws you in. It might have twist and turned at every corner despite it feels rather predictable, in general this film isn’t as memorable, it is a good film.

Stuart Little

Upon getting adopted by the Littles, Stuart the mouse is unwelcomed by his new brother George. So, when Stuart begins to feel low the family helps him find his real parents. Cute and heartwarming film that will capture your heart, it is watchable from start to finish as this is a charming film. The villain is rather weak. Plus the film itself doesn’t gel or flow together as much, this isn’t a bad film as it got some nice moment in this film, despite that this is watchable.

White Fang (2018)

Based on the timeless novel by Jack London. A loyal wolfdog’s curiosity leads him on the adventure of a lifetime while serving a series of three distinctly master. Gorgeous looking animation film with stunning scenery, it is eye catching from start to finish as the story is simple. For me personally this doesn’t offer anything new or fresh, it feel rather safe and too predictable but despite that this is a superbly made film, if you like those type of film this is ideal for you

Brooklyn

An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within. A slow burner film which is quietly powerful. The acting is amazing and the main lead is likeable, once you watch this you will always remember, the pacing can be a bit off and the midsection falters, overall, this film is heartfelt and it will move you.

The Portable Door

Two lowly interns at J.W. Wells and Co., a mysterious firm based in London, uncover a plot by their CEO to disrupt the ancient magical world with modern corporate practices. I admire this film that tries to be something different, it also not a typical Hollywood film which is refreshing. The first half doesn’t gel and flow together as much, the second hour is much better and the casting is perfect, I reckon it will surprise many people as the idea behind this film is superb.

The Incredibles 2

The Incredibles family takes on a new mission which involves a change in family roles: Bob Parr (Mr Incredible) must manage the house while his wife Helen (Elastigirl) goes out to save the world. Being action packed which never loses the story itself. The characters are great and the villain is perfectly sinister, it can be funny in places as the pacing is spot on, it certainly holds your interest as this is a charming film, this is suitable for all ages and a family viewing.
