Mini Film Reviews Volume 96

Step Up

Tyler receives the opportunity of a lifetime after vandalizing a performing arts school, gaining him the chance to earn a scholarship and dance with an up-and-coming dancer, Nora. It is one of those film that is well casted, the story is spot on as the film itself is watchable. I would say this doesn’t offer you anything new or fresh as this is predictable, the film itself isn’t perfect plus the chemistry between the two leads is perfect, overall, this is a good underdog type of film.

Monster Trucks

A young man working at a small-town junkyard discovers and befriends a creature which feeds on oil being sought by a fracking company. Personally, I don’t get the hate for this film as this isn’t a bad film, the two leads have got excellent chemistry together. It has got some nice moment in this film, for me personally this isn’t as subtle like with the creature element. I believe there is one scene when the creature attempted to eat one of the villains, if you get past that this is entertaining from start to finish, it is funny and heartfelt at the same time.

Bank Of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger

This sequel to Bank of Dave sees Dave Fishwick taking on a new and more dangerous adversary: The Payday Lenders. A feel-good experience which you needed in this film. It is one of those film that will made you smile, it is an inoffensive film that will capture people heart, for me personally it lacks the charmed of the first film, despite that this is watchable from start to finish.

Gifted (2017)

Frank, a single man raising his child prodigy niece Mary, is drawn into a custody battle with his mother. Could be rather forced and too sentimental for some people. This feel real, honest and relatable film that is silently powerful, McKenna Grace and Chris Evans chemistry is perfect, in some ways this is a feel-good type of film, I reckon it will surprise people as it will move you.

A United Kingdom

The story of King Seretse Khama of Botswana and how his loving but controversial marriage to a British white woman, Ruth Williams, put his kingdom into political and diplomatic turmoil. Beautiful film that will capture people heart, it deals with the diversity element and that is important, for me personally this film is certainly underrated, it is certainly memorable.

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story

Reeve’s rise to becoming a film star follows with a near – fatal horse – riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. After the accident, he become an activist for spinal cord injury treatments and disability rights. One of the most inspirational documentaries that touch my heart, I just connect with it as it deals with life, family, chasing your dreams and believe in yourself. It will leave you a lasting impression on you, it also draws you in from start to finish as the pacing is perfect, this will surprise many people as this is powerful.
