Mini Film Review Volume 102

Miranda’s Victim

Patricia “Trish” Weir is committed to putting her kidnapper and rapist Ernesto Miranda in prison, while her life is destroyed by the legal system. Firstly, this has got a brilliant story and it is well casted, but unfortunately the film itself isn’t as memorable, it also missing the psychological element, with those two flaws it could have been something, it just doesn’t deliver.

Radical (2023)

A teacher in a Mexican border town full of neglect, corruption, and violence, tries a radical new method to unlock their student’s curiosity, potential – and maybe even their genius. Underdog type of film which is a slow burner. It has got a good story and this is well casted, I just feel in general this seems too safe and too predictable, it doesn’t offer you anything new or fresh. Despite that this isn’t a bad film, overall, this is silently a well – made film.

Mr Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie

Monk, a brilliant detective with obsessive – compulsive disorder, returns to solve one last case involving his stepdaughter Molly who’s a journalist preparing for her wedding. I admire this film that try to be something different. It deals with suicide but it tries to be upbeat at the same time, for me personally it certainly works. The laughs seem slightly forced, it is another film that doesn’t offer you anything new or fresh, despite that this is silently watchable.

Transformers One

The untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but who once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. Eye catching film which is easy to follow. The animation itself is gorgeous to look at, it can feel rather hyperactive and it take itself too seriously, the vocal in this film is silently good, this is superbly made.

The Electric State

An orphaned teen hits the road with a mysterious robot to find her long – lost brother, teaming up with a smuggler and his wisecracking sidekick. With amazing CGI/SFX plus the visual is amazing, it can be funny in places and it got an emotional aspect. The brother and the sister flashback are quietly powerful, it got a political edge and that is important. it could have been a five-star film but it doesn’t gel or flow together as much, it will surprise many people.

Sound Of Freedom

The incredible true story of a former government agent turned vigilante who embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hundreds of children from traffickers. One of those film that will creep you under your skin, I like the way it shies away from any violence. Without going over the top, the acting is amazing and totally believable. It could be on the verve of too hard hitting for some people, silently this is powerful and it will leave you a lasting impression on you.
