Ron’s Gone Wrong

Barney, a socially inept boy, finds a friend in Ron, a digitally – connected device with the ability to walk and talk. Together, the duo navigates an action – packed journey and true friendship. The animation itself is gorgeous to look at. I also like the story as this is simple to follow, but unfortunately this can feel rather hyperactive, for me personally it hard to connect with this film as it misses that emotional aspect, it got great potential but for me personally it didn’t deliver.

Bookworm

11-year-old Mildred’s world is turned upside down when her estranged father, the washed – up magician Strawn Wise, comes to look after her and agrees to take her camping to find a mythological beast known as the Canterbury Panther. I admire this film that try to be something different. The idea and the story behind this film is superb, despite that the film itself becoming weird and rather surreal, it is one of those film you don’t really care with these characters, with these flaws it could been something special and that is a real shame.

Dead Shot

A retired Irish paramilitary witnesses the fatal shooting of his pregnant wife by an SAS officer. After outwitting the SAS, now wounded, and presumed dead, he escapes, taking his revenge to the dark and paranoid streets of 1970s London. A well casted and a well-made film that is intriguing. It might be brutal but underneath it all there is a great story, the thing with this film is the pacing as it doesn’t always hold your interest, it also lacking the psychological aspect, overall, this is a slow burner type of film as this is good.

My Sailor, My Love

A retired sea captain and his daughter must reassess their stained relationship after he begins a new romance with a widowed housekeeper. With stunning scenery and this feel like a slow burner type of film. the chemistry between James Cosmo and Brid Brennan is spot on, it doesn’t offer you anything new or fresh, it can feel too safe but if you get past that this is pretty good, this is silently moving as it got that emotional aspect.

Hope Springs (2012)

After thirty years of marriage, a middle – aged couple attends an intense, week – long counselling session to work on their relationship. Quietly this film is watchable from start to finish. The chemistry between Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones is superb, it is heartwarming and uplifting which made you smile, it could have been a five stars film but I just feel it doesn’t gel or flow together as much, overall, this is a superbly made film.

A Nice Indian Boy

Cultures collide when an introverted doctor brings his white boyfriend home to meet his traditional East Indian family. Not your unusual Hollywood rom com and that is refreshing. It is real, honest and relatable film that will touch your heart, the chemistry between the main two lead is superb, it is funny and heartwarming plus you will care about with these characters. I reckon it will surprise many people, overall, this film is surprisingly enjoyable.

Not sure if I would fancy watching any of these films
