The Only Living Boy In New York

Thomas Webb, who is still trying to figure what to do professionally, finds his life turned upside down when he discovers his father is having an affair. The idea and the story behind this film is spot on. I like the friendship aspect with Callum Turner and Jeff Bridges; those are the positive in this film. Unfortunately it lacks the emotional aspect, this doesn’t feel relatable and it doesn’t gel or flow together as much, I don’t want to be too harsh on this film as this got some potential, for me personally this film didn’t deliver and that is a real shame.

The Take (Bastille Day)

A young pickpocket named Micheal and an unruly CIA agent team up on an anti – terrorist mission in France. Underneath the action there is a brilliant story of corruption, that is refreshing and I like the unlikely friendship aspect. It has got amazing set pieces as this can be exciting, for me personally it can feel a bit safe and rather predictable. It is another film which doesn’t gel or flow together as much. The film itself has got two different names, it still good.

September 5 (2024)

During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an American sports broadcasting team must adapt to live coverage of the Israeli athletes being held hostage by a terrorist group. One of those film that will draw you in. This film is well made and overall, this is unpredictable, it lacks the psychological element, it doesn’t creep you under your skin. Also it doesn’t leave you a lasting impression on you, despite that this film is worth watching as it silently good.

Bridge To Terabithia

Leslie and Jess create the secret kingdom of Terabithia, a land of monsters, trolls, ogres and giants where they spend their free time ruling as king and queen and fighting evil creatures. Quietly powerful as this film will touch people heart. It is eye catching from start to finish, this is a beautiful coming of age film, the only thing with this film is the ending as I felt it was weak. That is the only thing as this is silently enjoyable, I reckon it will surprise many people.

The Journey Of Natty Gann

In the 1930s, a tomboy runs away from her guardian to join her single father who is 2,000 miles away, where he has found work. Remarkable dated film that will surprise many people. It set during the Great Depression as this is a historical film, the story is quietly powerful and the acting is amazing, the film itself didn’t quite gel together as much, despite that this is surprisingly good.

The Golden Compass (2007)

In a parallel universe, young Lyra Belacqua journeys to the far North to save her best friend and other kidnapped children from terrible experiments by a mysterious organization. With an all star cast which they all convince in their roles. The film itself is gorgeous to look at especially the stunning scenery, the pacing is perfect as it certainly holds your interest, the CGI/SFX is truly outstanding, if you wanted a character driven fantasy film this is ideal for you.
