Slow burner type of film that will draw you in. the acting is convincing and totally believable, the story is brilliant and this is silently good, once you watched this you will always remember this, it is superb.

9.The Dry (IMDB – 6.8/10)

Aaron Falk returns to his drought – stricken hometown to attend a tragic funeral. But his return opens a decades – old wound – the unsolved death of a teenage girl. Personally, if you get past the brutal elements. There is a wonderful story and it will draw you in, the acting is totally believable and convincing, overall, this film is certainly memorable, it is a well-made film.

8.Sky High (IMDB – 6.3/10)

Will, the son of The Commander and Jetstream, is enrolled in Sky High, a school for the children of Superheroes. There, he discovers his true powers and learns about loyalty and friendship. One of those film that will divide people. It is heartwarming and the characters are great, it doesn’t feel too hyperactive and that is the key, this film will made you smile, this is pure escapism.

7.Lightyear (IMDB – 6.1/10)

Legendary space ranger Buzz Lightyear embarks on an intergalactic adventure alongside ambitious recruits Izzy, Mo, Darby and his robot companion, Sox. As this motley crew tackles their toughest mission yet. Too be honest with you I was surprised with this film. The animation itself is gorgeous to look at; it is eye catching from start to finish, the vocal in this film is spot on, it is cute and heartwarming at the same time, this is a thrill ride type of film as it is exciting.

6.Black Beauty (IMDB – 6.4/10)

A wild horse and a teenage girl forge an unbreakable bond which keeps them connected for a lifetime. Relatable film that will touch people heart. You will care about with these characters, this will move you and it is silently powerful, this is not suitable for cynical type of people. Overall, this is a beautiful film which is heartfelt.

5.The Karate Kid (IMDB – 6.3/10)

Work causes a single mother to move to China with her young son; in his new home, the 12-year-old boy embraces Kung Fu, taught to him by a master. Quietly this film is a crowd pleaser as this is an underdog type of film. It deals with the personal journey and people will relate to that, it might be predictable but it silently powerful, this will touch people heart, it is genuinely moving.

4.The Electrical Life Of Louis Wain (IMDB – 6.8/10)

English artist Louis Wain rises to prominence at the end of the 19th century for his surreal cat paintings that seemed to reflect his declining sanity. Underneath the surreal and the weirdness aspect. It has got a wonderful message of life in general, this is one of the best Benedict Cumberbatch film, the casting is perfect and they all convince in their roles, this is pretty good.

3.The Golden Compass (IMDB – 6.1/10)

In a parallel universe, Young Lyra Belacqua journeys to the far north to save her best friend and other kidnapped children from terrible experiments by a mysterious organization. Visually amazing and with stunning scenery. It delves deep into the mythological element and that is important, this feel like an epic type of film, it is eye catching from start to finish, it is certainly pure escapism.

2.Quartet (IMDB – 6.8/10)

Reggie, Wilf, Cissy and Jean are members of a quartet that vowed never to sing again. But things take a turn when they have to perform in order to save their retirement home for musicians. When you need a feel-good film this is ideal for you. It is cute and heartwarming and this will made you smile; it can be funny in places as this is an underdog type of film, this is perfectly watchable and you will care about with these characters, it is charming and quietly powerful.

1.Surf’s Up (IMDB – 6.7/10)

A behind the scenes look at the annual Penguin World Surfing Championship, and its newest participant, up and comer Cody Maverick. You got to admire this film as this try to be something different. It got great characters and the vocal is amazing, it is funny and heartfelt at the same time, this will surprise many people with this film, it is suitable for all ages and a family viewing.

  1. I’ve seen The Edge of War and Quartet. I enjoyed both of them. Not sure I would have them as 5* films.

    I don’t know the other films.
