Rebuilding Paradise

The community of Paradise, California, a town in the Sierra Nevada foothills, attempts to rebuild after devastating wildfires in 2018. Firstly, I like the subject matter of this documentary. It certainly pays respect to those people behind this documentary, but unfortunately this is more bleak than being inspirational or uplifting, it also didn’t leave you a lasting impression on you. I wanted to like this documentary but I couldn’t get into it, this is a major letdown.

Smile 2

About to embark on a world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. I do like the story behind this film and the acting is amazing and totally believable. I also like the message of fame and the consequences and that is refreshing, this lacks the psychological aspect, it also can’t decide which genre it supposed to be as this eventually turn into a slasher type of film. I don’t want to be too harsh on this film as there is some potential, for me personally it didn’t quite deliver.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol

On Christmas Eve, miserly businessman Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, and the spirits of Christmas past, present and future, in the hope that he will learn the error of his ways. Eye catching film from start to finish as this got a wonderful story. The vocal in this film is spot on, this is another film which doesn’t leave you a lasting impression on you, the midsection falters but it never recovers in time. It lacks the charm and overall, it has got some potential, I wanted to like this film but this is a letdown.

Bob Trevino Likes It

Lily Trevino unexpectedly befriends an online stranger, sharing her self – centered father’s name. This new Bob Trevino’s support could transform her life. Having watched this film I thought it was pretty good. I like the unlikely friendship aspect and that is refreshing, the ending is quietly powerful. I find this film doesn’t offer you anything new or fresh. It can feel too safe and too predictable, despite that this is a slow burner type of film, overall, this is a well-made film.

A House Of Dynamite

When a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond. Got to admit this film is pretty good with stunning acting. The story and the idea are there, it never feels too predictable and that is the key, the pacing is slightly off and the ending is weak for me personally. It can get too overcomplicated and sometimes it hard to follow, despite with these flaws this is a superbly made film.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

A baffling death inside a quiet church draws Benoit Blanc into a tense investigation where faith, secrets and suspicion blur as a close community turns against itself. Just breathtaking as this doesn’t feel too overcomplicated. It has got an all star cast and they all convince in their roles, it might not gel or flow together as much, despite that this is a clever film that is thought provoking, this is certainly memorable and it stand out; you will always remember this film.
