10.Sirius Black (Gary Oldman)

Voldemort’s trusted aide Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban Prison and wants to kill Harry to avenge the Dark Lord. A convicted murderer and a criminal and he also have a dark side to him. Gary Oldman is magnificent and bring a real swagger and a real charm to this character as he is bring something extra in Prisoner of Azkaban.
9.Cruella De Vil (Glenn Close)

Anita’s glamorous but horrible boss, Cruella De Vil dognaps the innocent puppies with the intention of making a luxurious coat with the dogs fabulously spotted fur, she also been released from prison and exact revenge on those innocent puppies. Glenn Close is a superb actress with really playing up to the camera and become evilness and villainous at the same time and with comic timing as well.
8.Captain James Hook (Dustin Hoffman)

An arch nemesis who live in Neverland and he decided to kidnap Peter Pan children, so he wanted to win supreme and being in charge of Neverland and now he do one final battle against Peter Pan. Dustin Hoffman bring charisma and being posh and being sinister as well and he blended all of those into his role and being portrayed by someone who wanted to avenge and becoming a real villain and his performance is absolutely amazing.
7.Scar (Jeremy Irons)

Simba’s wicked uncle, Scar, plots to usurp Mufasa’s throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests and also murder his brother Mufasa. The vocal of Jeremy Irons is perfectly spot on and generally chilling at the same time, Jeremy Irons should star in more animation film than just one.
6.Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey)

Lex Luthor is a megalomaniac and a psychopathic who wanted to take over the world by creating his very own, and in the process wiping out the lives of billions of people. Kevin Spacey really capture the character by bringing his own version of this character come to life, He certainly bring out his acting chop and being really serious and also mixed with a bit of comic timing as well, he certainly much better than the latest one.
5.Hans Gruber (Die Hard)

A band of German terrorists arrive and take the entire building hostage including its employees and attempt a huge robbery, the head of terrorists is lead by Hans Gruber and plot to steal $6000 million of bonds from the vaults of the building while there is a Christmas party going on. One of the greatest action movie villains that appear on screen, that portrayed by the late Alan Rickman who just perfectly menacing and can be charming as well, he can be lethal with his fighting skill.
4.The Joker (Heath Ledger)

When a vile young criminal calling himself “ The Joker “ suddenly throws the city into chaos and he also a mob boss who is sadistic psychopath, Heath Ledger is absolutely amazing, sinister and generally a scary figure that you always remember by his appearances, you can’t take your eye off him and it such a travesty that he die at a young age.
3.IT (Bill Skarsgard)

A shape – shifting monster, which preys on the children of Derry and it can shapeshift into the thing you are most afraid of, the only thing is he is a clown. Bill Skarsgard is literally out of his world and unrecognizable in this spooky, chilling and memorable villain in a horror movie and he is so good, he is only 30-year-old and a talent to watch out for.
2.Silver (Javier Bardem)

The former top notch M16 Agent Tiago Rodriguez, aka Raoul Silva who had been betrayed by M, and now is seeking revenge against the veteran leader of the M16. This is one of the greatest James Bond movies ever and certainly the best villain in a Bond movie, he is certainly memorable, cynical and perfectly sinister and Javier Bardem should have an Oscar for his role.
1.Grand High Witch (Anjelica Huston)

A group of women from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children arrive for a convention with their leader Miss Eva Ernst who wanted to turn every children into a mouse. The reason why I put it first there is not enough villains that are women in many films in general, Anjelica Huston is spot on and commanded in every scene and she is simply terrifying.
A varied selection as usual Mark. I would have had Hans Gruber on the list as well; Alan Rickman plays a great film and I would also include his Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, the only good thing in that film!
Some older ones that are worth considering would be:
Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre in the Maltese Falcon, another great Humphrey Bogart film.
Hannibal Lecter in the Silence of the Lambs, and Blofeld in the James Bond films – both have passed into the general culture which is a sign of their greatness.
Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is not your usual kind of villain but a great hate figure.
And how about Darth Vader in the Star Wars films as one of the all time great films?
