10.Terminator 2: Judgement Day

A cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her teenage son, John Connor, from a more advanced and powerful cyborg. Brilliant premise and with superb visual effect that made this film and for me personally they should just ended the franchise, as the second one is far more superior than the others, the soundtrack is really stand out and superbly acted in a well-paced thought provoking with a sinister baddie, made this a worthwhile viewing of this film.

9.The Matrix

When a beautiful stranger leads computer hacker Neo to a forbidding underworld, he discovers the shocking truth – the life he knows is the elaborate deception of an evil cyber – intelligence. An intelligent different action packed of a film which is so different which is so fresh and new, the action scenes is generally exciting in this thrill ride type of film and superbly casted as well. They should just stick with just the two films of The Matrix as this one is a classic and definitely really entertaining from start to finish.

8.Avatar

A paraplegic marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home. It might be lengthy but it certainly drawn you in from the first frame with an all – star cast and the visual effect is outstanding and it by James Cameron. The story is really good and it is eye catching and it is one of those film that is sheer entertaining and well-paced, it definitely not overcomplicated and it is easy to follow and the cinematography is amazing.

7.The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising

This is the story of a young man, named Will Stanton, who discovers he is the last of a group of immortals dedicated to fighting the dark forces of evil, traveling back and forth through time. This will divided people as some people will like it and some don’t as I personally love it as it got a simple story with spot on casting in this thoroughly enjoyable film.

6.John Carter

John Carter, a Civil War veteran, who in 1868 was trying to live a normal life is asked by the Army to join, he refused and he locked up for it and he escape and on the run and he ended up in a cave but he find someone, with a medallion that when he touch it he transported to a new world. Colourful characters with amazing special effect and the storytelling is top notch, it is well intentioned and this is a gem of a movie that is pure escapism.

5.Men In Black 3

Agent J travels in time to M.I.B.’s early days in 1969 to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history. It definitely a hit and miss for some people but this one is really funny with eccentric characters and creatures alike, the concept is really clever and it doesn’t ruin the film at all as it not take too seriously and it is pure escapism and a well intentioned with comic timing with funny one liner especially from Will Smith. It is likeable and it will entertained people at the same time.

4.Edge Of Tomorrow

A soldier fighting aliens gets to relieve the same day over and over again, the day restarting every time he dies. It might be too violence for some people but this is inventive, fresh, different and new which is really nice to see and superbly casted, it definitely not overcomplicated but it has got a really good story with the visual is out of this world and this is one of the best Tom Cruise film, it certainly does work really well with a thrill ride of a film that made this so watchable.

 3.Shrek Forever After

Rumpelstiltskin tricks a mid – life crisis burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpelstiltskin rules supreme. One of those film that is so easy to watched as all the characters so memorable and with the vocal talent is mesmerizing especially with the comic timing, it has got a simple storyline and it is definitely laugh out loud moment and it just an underrated with a gem of a film.

2.Alice Through The Looking Glass

Alice returns to the whimsical world of Wonderland and travels back in time to help the Mad Hatter. Surprisingly really effective and this film does work really well with bunch of well-known stars that is so colourful and it is eye catching from start to finish, definitely it is worth checking out as this is majestic, soulful and it bring out the balance well with lighter and darker moments in the film, it might not fit for the younger generation of kids but they will like the characters as it is quirky and it bring out your imagination.

1.Mr Peabody & Sherman

The time – travelling adventures of an advanced canine and his adopted son, as they endeavour to fix a time rift they created. The reason why I picked this film first it has a life lesson and it blended all the historic moments which made this lesser-known animation film, it is one of those film that you laugh and it is life affirming at the same time. A brilliant story that is so simple and easy to follow and it is a heart-warming and heartfelt film.

  1. Another interesting selection Mark. I’m not sure that I would have thought of all of them as time travel films.
    Here is some others that I would have included:
    The Time Machine – based on the story by H G Wells.
    Back to the Future series – I’m surprised that you didn’t include these.
    Donnie Darko
    Time Bandits, and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure for the comedy element.
    Arrival and Interstellar as two modern versions of time travel.
