Article: Top 10 Overrated Films Volume 2

10.Clue (IMDB 7.3-10/Me – 5/10)

Six guests are anonymously invited to a strange mansion for dinner, but after their host is killed, they must cooperate with the staff to identify the murderer as the bodies pile up. The idea and the start of this film is promising but it slowly getting worst as it running out of idea and with constant twist after twist, that made this film into slapstick comedy with a rubbish ending.

9.The Red Turtle (IMDB 7.5/10/Me – 4/10)

Surrounded by the immense and furious ocean, a shipwrecked mariner battles for his life with the relentless towering waves. As I’m really into Studio Ghibli type of film I thought this going to be an amazing and rewarding film, it ended up becoming too weird and the story is thinly plotting and the pacing is all wrong. It doesn’t moved me as it is emotionless and the film in whole it feel rushed and you don’t feel anything for these characters.

8.The Lighthouse (IMDB 7.5/10/Me 3/10

Two lighthouse keepers try to maintain their sanity while living on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. The look and the style that is perfectly suited for this film but it is too weird and it like a Twilight Zone, the casting is okay and this meant to be physiological film that has jump scares. It not hardly scary whatsoever and with an unnecessary peculiar ending that made you scratching your head.

7.Man Of Steel (IMDB 7.0/10/Me 2 /10)

An alien child is evacuated from his dying world and sent to Earth to live among humans. His peace is threatened when other survivors of his home planet invade Earth. It lack with no characters development, no backstory and it just crash, bang, wallop and that’s it. I was so disappointed and if you looking for a perfect action film please don’t bother with this, it might have an all star cast but they just feel wasted in a film that just focused on non-stop action.

6.Doctor Sleep (IMDB 7.3/10/Me 1.0/10

Years following the events of The Shining (1980), a now – adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal. Stick with the original film with The Shining as that is a masterpiece and whereas with this one it not hardly scary whatsoever and it is far too weird, it is definitely overlong and the pacing is all wrong and you will losing interest in this film.

5.Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (IMDB 7.6/10/Me 6/10)

A faded television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in the final years of Hollywood’s Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles. This film has got ambitious and it is weirdly nostalgia and it is well made, unfortunately I found it too overlong and it losing momentum and there just too many characters. It not quite there and the violence is rather strong and the other thing is if they just trim it and with lesser characters it could have been a perfect film.

4.Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (IMDB 7.1/10/Me 5.9/10)

In the bleak days of the Cold War, espionage veteran George Smiley is forced from semi – retirement to uncover a Soviet Agent within MI6. I really wanted to like this but I found it really frustrating and with an overcomplicated story that just intertwined, it got a good cast but they can’t save this film as it just twist after twist and it just losing some momentum. The ending is just left you bemused and the pacing is all wrong, it is muddled and it not so memorable whatsoever.

3.A Star Is Born (IMDB 7.8/10/Me 6.1/10)

A musician helps a young singer find fame as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral. One of those film that is very patches and bits and pieces can be really moving and touching. The first half is good and the second half is less compelling as it is rather long and the acting is reasonable, if you want something easy and people love a good musical this is too hard hitting for them and it is well made, despite of those flaws this isn’t perfect as it just okay, but not brilliant.

2.13th (IMDB 8.3/10/Me 4.5/10

An in – depth look at the prison system in the United States and how it reveals the nation’s history of racial inequality. Definitely one of the most let down documentary as it constantly flipping back and fourth and it just losing the focused and made this uneven, it is a sensitive topic and it is respectable with the people who involved with this. It is frustrating to watch as you really wanted to enjoy this documentary but it is too uneven.

1.Shoplifters (IMDB 7.9/10/Me 2.5/10

After one of their shoplifting sessions, Osamu and his son come across a little girl in the freezing cold. At first reluctant to shelter the girl, Osamu’s wife agrees to take care of her after learning of the hardships she faces. One of the most disappointing film ever as it meant to be a beautiful coming of age type of film, it ended up like a comedy crime film as it can’t decided which genre of film. The acting is okay but nothing spectacular and for me personally it doesn’t connect with people and it not relatable at all.
