10.Laura Marlin: Dead Man’s Cove

When orphaned Laura Marlin moves from a children’s home to live with her uncle in Cornwall, she longs for a life of excitement just like the characters in her favourite detective novels. My ideal director for this adventure tale is Gil Kenan he mainly famous for adventure type of films, I would personally love someone like McKenna Grace or even Spencer Locke as they are not household name, maybe someone like Daniel Craig as the uncle as that would be amazing. In a childlike adventure film that could be a PG.

But Sophie is convinced her mother also survived, Sophie takes matter into her own hands, starting with the only clue she has – the address of a cello – maker in Paris. In someway this would be amazing as an indie film with a newcomer called Angourie Rice as the main lead with Luca Guadagnino at the helm, as he normally doing character driven type of film.
8.Conjuror

There are three things in this world that seventeen years old Remy guard with his life, Remy has supernatural powers. He is a Conjuror, descendant of an ancient bloodline that can change reality with music. There is one director who would be amazing to made this book into a film, it would be Christopher Nolan as he made this into an epic film as it dealing with time travel. Mackenzie Foy, Timothee Chalamet and maybe a newcomer would play the main lead.
7.Jennie

Peter Brown longs for a pet cat. One day, he is following a stray cat through the streets when he is knocked down and seriously hurt, then he find himself turning into a cat and befriended Jennie a tabby cat, so they go on a life affirming trip with each other. Robert Zemeckis would direct this and this would be motion capture with a all star cast and it would look amazing, it would be suitable for all ages.
6.The Umbrella Mouse

1944, and London is under attack. Young mouse Pip Hanway’s safe and quiet world is turned upside down when her home, umbrella shop James Smith & Sons is destroyed by a bomb. Orphaned and alone, she must begins a perilous quest to find a new home. The premise to this book would be a fantastic movie and I would personally love Chris Sanders and the cast of The Call Of The Wild cast would be in this film with beautiful landscape with a timeless story.
5.Can You See Me?

Tally is eleven years old and she’s just like her friends. Well, sometimes she is. If she tries really hard to be. Because there’s something that makes Tally not the same as her friends. Something she can’t cover up, no matter how hard she tries,: Tally is autistic. With a film like this it would be powerful and hard to watch, it will be sincere and I’m sure JA Bayona turn this into an Oscar winner film about someone who got autistic, that also would ring true and people will connect with this film.
4.The Goose Road

France 1916, Angelique Lacroix is haymaking when the postman delivers the news: her father is dead, killed on a distant battlefield. She makes herself a promise: the farm will remain exactly the same until her beloved older brother comes home from the front. A beautiful story that is so poignancy and moving, my ideal film director for this is Nora Twomey who did The Breadwinner, I would love it to be her first live action film with beautiful landscape and a newcomer to play the main lead.
3.Emil And The Detective

Emil is excited to be taking the train on his own for the first time. He doesn’t like the look of his fellow passenger, the man in the bowler hat. Emil somehow fall asleep on the train and the man in the bowler hat has stolen his money, Emil go on an epic journey to get his money back. Definitely Martin Scorsese would be ideal to direct this and I would absolutely love the cast of Hugo to star in this film, with an all star cast and this would be an epic adventure film.
2.How High The Moon

It’s 1944, and in a small, Southern, segregated town, eleven-year-old Ella spends her summers running wild with her cousins and friends. The deep racial tension that simmers beneath their town’s peaceful façade never quite goes away, and Ella misses her mama – a beautiful jazz singer, who lives in Boston. Personally I really love this book and there is one director who would be perfect, it is Chloe Zhao as she would make this so watchable, maybe all the cast member from all of her films and this will be absolutely amazing and some awards for this potential film.
1.The Emergency Zoo

It is late August 1939: Britain is on the brink of war, and preparations are under way to evacuate London’s children to the countryside. When twelve years old Tilly and her best friend Rosy find out that they will not be able to take their beloved dog and cat with them, so they set up a secret zoo for all animals. The reason why I would love this book turn into a film, it would be critical acclaim and win so many award, it would be ideal that Steven Spielberg would direct this with Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance and Stanley Tucci as the parents. With two newcomers would play the main lead as this would be ideal for all ages.
An interesting selection Mark. As you might guess, I don’t know any of them. My nomination would be C J Sansom’s Shardlake series, a lawyer in the time of Henry VIII, mixing true events with fiction.
