An orphaned boy enrolls in a school of wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world, he also made friends and go on a journey throughout his life. All these films are thoroughly entertaining that will drawn you in from start to finish, in an enchanting and magical film which capture your imaginational.

9.Big

After wishing to be made big, a teenage boy wakes the next morning to find himself mysteriously in the body of an adult. I wasn’t that impressed at first and when I am looking back now it is a feel-good type of film, it might be rather dated now but I guarantee this film will made you smile and pure escapism in a really nice film.

8.Forrest Gump

The presidencies of Kennedy and Johnson, the Vietnam War, the Watergate scandal, and other historical events unfold from the perspective of an Alabama man with an IQ of 75. Might be rather dated for some people but this is moving and poignancy at the same time, it also have a brilliant story and the pacing is just right, in a sincere and a crowd pleaser film.

7.Hillbilly Elegy

An urgent phone call pulls a Yale Law student back to his Ohio hometown, where he reflects on three generations of family history and his own future. With stunning acting especially from Amy Adams and the rest of the cast are amazing, it is one of those film that might be too hard hitting for some people but it is powerful and sincere film which is so memorable.

6.Hunt For The Wilderpeople

Bella and Hector, two reclusive country folks, become foster parents to Ricky, a problem child from the city. After some adjustment, things go reasonably well. However, the death of Bella means Hector now has to look after Ricky. Definitely one of the best growing up type of film as it is sweet, charming, and very likeable film which capture people heart.

5.Everybody’s Fine

A widower who realized his only connection to his family was through his wife sets off on an impromptu road trip to reunite with each of his grown children. One of those film that is so relatable in this uplifting film, it also a feel-good film and in one of the scenes when he is dreaming, we actually see his grown-up children while they are really young. that bit in the film is really touching and quietly powerful, in this sincere film which is a masterpiece.

4.Narnia (2005 – 2010)

Four kids travel through a wardrobe to the land of Narnia and learn of their destiny to free it with the guidance of a mystical lion, they also go on a magical journey throughout Narnia. Fantastic looking films which capture that magic in this watchable film, which is pure entertaining from start to finish, this is also pure escapism and it is one those film with a really good story.

3.The Fox And The Hound

A little fox named Tod, and Copper, a hound puppy, vow to be best buddies forever. But as Copper grows into a hunting dog, their unlikely friendship faces the ultimate test. Surprisingly this is so sweet and heartwarming and I personally love it, it is old school and that does work really well in this charming growing up animation film which is suitable for all ages.

2.Tarzan (2013)

Orphaned and stranded in the heart of the untamed African jungle, John Greystoke finds a new family in shape of a mighty female silverback gorilla. Now, almost two decades later, Johnny is Tarzan. Everyone completely slaughter this film but just ignored those reviews and made your mind up, as the visual is certainly out of this world and it is eye catching, the storytelling is brilliant in a gorgeous good-looking film.

1.Toy Story (1995 – 2019)

Toy Story is about the secret life of toys when people are not around, the toys go on life affirming journey and meet new eccentric characters. The reason why this is my number one it is dealing with growing up and your adolescents, I can connect with all of those films and it is suitable for all ages and a family viewing type of film, the vocal talent is amazing and this is just a really nice film.

  1. This has got to be your favourite genre and the one you have most expertise in. Can’t knock your selection.
    I will give you one more to consider – Boyhood. It was filmed over 12 summers and you actually get to see the actor grow up in front of you.
