10.The Water Diviner
An Australian man travel to Turkey after the Battle of Gallipoli to try and locate his three missing sons. First major breakout film for Russell Crowe and he did a fabulous job on this film and the way he find the balance of a western, love story and a war aspect that work really well, the scenery look wonderful and it has got a fantastic story.
9.Chef
A head chef quits his restaurant job and buys a food truck in an effect to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family. A beautiful coming of age road movie that will capture people heart, it got that feel good type of vibe and it has got a father and son relationship that is simply beautiful, it also a pick me up type of type of film which you needed.
8.Pan’s Labyrinth
In the Falangist Spain of 1944, the bookish young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer escapes into an eerie but captivating fantasy world. Beautifully made film which is fascinating to watch and it will drawn you in from start to finish, the acting is incredible and the CGI/SFX is truly spectacular in this engrossing but watchable film.
7.The Hundred – Foot Journey
The Kadam family leaves India for France where they open a restaurant directly across the road from Madame Mallory’s Michelin – starred eatery. Charming, likeable, and heartfelt film which is pure escapism, the characters are likeable and it can be really funny and it just a really nice film and overall it is enjoyable.
6.Words On Bathroom Walls
Diagnosed with a mental illness halfway through his senior year of high school, a witty, introspective teen struggles to keep it a secret while falling in love with a brilliant classmate who inspire him to not be defined by his condition. Definitely a sincere and honest film which is raw and the acting is amazing, it also made you think of your families and friends and it is powerful and relatable.
5.A Quiet Place
In a post – apocalyptic world, a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra – sensitive hearing. Not your average horror film this will made you think and the first hour is brilliant, this will creep under your skin and it just focuses on the psychological aspect and the casting is convincing, it will play on your mind in a superbly crafted film which is really clever.
4.The Princess And The Frog
A waitress, desperate to fulfil her dreams as a restaurant owner, is set on a journey to turn a frog prince back into a human being, but she has to face the same problem after she kisses him. One of the best Disney film with a really cool soundtrack, the animation itself look gorgeous in this enchanted film which is suitable for a family viewing.
3.Dreamland
During the Great Depression, Eugene Evans dreams of escaping his small Texas town when he discovers a wounded, fugitive bank robber. Personally I was expecting this to be rubbish but I thought this was superb, you actually care for these characters and the whole film is utterly gripping and it got a backstory for all the characters, it is convincing and it will gripped you.
2.Motherless Brooklyn
In 1950s New York, a lonely private detective afflicted with Tourette’s syndrome ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend. Well made film with a brilliant story that never get too overcomplicated, the whole film is like a very clever whodunnit type of film which work really well. the casting is perfect in this thought provoking and an intelligent film.
1.Away
A boy and a little bird are travelling across an island on a motorcycle trying to escape a dark spirit and return home. Truly remarkable experience that will certainly wowed you and the scenery look amazing, it will drawn you in and this might be slightly weird and surreal but it will moved you and overall this is memorable, it also try to be something different which I really admire.
