10.The Wizard Of Oz

Young Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto are swept away by a tornado from their Kansas farm to the magical Land of Oz, and embark on a quest with three new friends to see the Wizard. Not for the most cynical type of person with this film, it might be rather dated but this is an old school type of film, the characters are great and it has got a brilliant story and this is a well-made film.

9.Knives Out

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. It might not be subtle but this is a really clever murder mystery film, it also got an all -star cast and they are really convincing, it is totally unpredictable and it never get too overcomplicated with the flashback element, this is superb and it didn’t take itself too seriously.

8.Jungle Cruise

Based on Disneyland’s theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travellers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles but with a supernatural element. Eye catching and gorgeous looking film, the chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt is certainly spot on and that is the key to this film, it is one of those film that drawn you in from the start and it is funny.


When two kids find and play a magical board game, they release a man trapped in it for decades and a host of dangers that can only be stopped by finishing the game. Personally I actually growing up watching this film, plus this is enjoyable and it got amazing CGI/SFX that look realistic, it is well casted and this is thrilling and exciting at the same time, the characters are likeable.

6.Dora And The Lost City Of Gold

Dora, a teenage explorer, leads her friends on an adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery behind a lost city of gold. Might not be for everyone as it will divided people as this is generally likeable, it also blended the darker element with the comedy aspect and that work really well, this is so underrated as this got a likeable lead and this is a family viewing type of film.

5.Sunshine On Leith

Two Scottish soldiers return from a tour of duty into their hometown of Leith. We witness the trials and tribulations as we follow the love lives of both soldiers and their families as they all come to terms with a life out of the war – zone. A feel-good experience which you needed as the songs is generally catchy, this film doesn’t feel forced and it not too sentimental as this is moving, this is an all-British film and it will definitely pull a smile to people faces as this is joyous film.

4.Top Gun: Maverick

After thirty years, Maverick is still pushing the envelope as a top naval aviator, but must confront ghosts of his past when he leads TOP GUN’s elite graduates on a mission that demands to the ultimate sacrifice from those chosen to fly it. Too be honest with you I was totally surprised with this film, the good thing about this film it blended the action with a character driven story and that work really well, this is a thrill ride type of film and this is generally exciting.

3.Toy Story (1995 – 2019)

Toy Story is about the “secret life of toys” when people are not around plus all the toys go an adventure, plus meeting news toys along their way. Being growing watching these films and I always admire with these films, all of them are consistent and they are heartfelt and it has got an easy-to-follow story, this is suitable for all ages and the vocal in these films is superb.

2.The Call Of The Wild

As the great Klondike Gold Rush is attracting both ambitious treasure hunters and bold adventurers to the unforgiving territories of Canada’s late 1890s Yukon, Buck, a pampered St. Bernard – Scotch Collie dog, finds himself without a master in a frozen new world. With stunning scenery and this is my comfort film, it is one of those film that drawn you in from the start and this is well casted, it got a cute story and you would go on a journey with this film, this is a superb film.


A rat named Remy who can cook makes an unusual alliance with a young kitchen worker at a famous Paris restaurant. One of the best Pixar film as this is watchable and it suitable for all ages and a family viewing, the vocal in this film is certainly spot on and it has got a beautiful story with stunning scenery, the message is chasing your dream and believe in yourself and I personally connect with that message, It is relatable to people and overall this is an enjoyable film.

  1. It could be said that watching any film is a form of escapism, but in terms of go to films to lose yourself in, these would be my top suggestions:
    Jason and the Argonauts – I’ve mentioned this one before
    Cabaret – given that I usually don’t like musicals I can’t recommend this film enough. One of the all time greats.
    The Third Man – great story and great photography
    Monty Python and The Holy Grail – complete silliness to lose yourself in.
    The Lord of the Rings trilogy – one of the greatest tales of a complete new universe to get lost in.

  2. You have got a really good point about films in general, these films sounded like they all worth watching and I will definitely keep my eyes on the top four that you suggestion, I seen all the Lord Of The Rings films and they are really good
