It must be over 2 years since you did Volume 1 of this Top 10, so apologies if I repeat what I wrote last time. Here’s some stand out performances for me:
1. Jack Nicholson – One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. A great actor in his best performance.
2. Joel Gray – as the MC in Cabaret. I don’t usually like musicals but this was a stand out performance.
3. Orson Welles – as Harry Lime in The Third Man. You hardly see him in the film but such a great performance you remember him more than the rest.
4. Dustin Hoffman – Rain Man
5. Daniel Day Lewis – My Left Foot
6. Frances McDormand – in Fargo. I liked Nomadland too, but I think this is the better acting performance.
7. Gary Oldman – always gives a first rate performance but his portrayal of Churchill topped the lot.
8. Marlon Brando – The Godfather – all time classic performance
9. Robin Williams – as an army DJ in Good Morning Vietnam, a comic and tragic performance.
10. Humphrey Bogart – with Lauren Bacall in To Have and Have Not. Great chemistry.
Have fun checking them out if you have not seen any of them.
