  1. I’ve seen Supernova, Elephant Man, The Breadwinner, A Monster Calls, and Nomadland. I’d agree with your inclusion of all of them, but The Rider is a better film, especially to move you about the plight and hopeless lives of some people. of some people. Here’s some others I would add:
The story of the weeping camel – sounds weird but very moving
Cathy Come Home (1966) was a BBC play about homelessness directed by Ken Loach. Changed a lot of people’s minds about homelessness.
12 Years a Slave – did we see that together?
Hacksaw Ridge – unbelievable true story
Dead Poets Society – Robin Williams as an unconventional school teacher
Breaking the Waves (1996) – Emily Watson is the wife of a man paralysed in an accident and he has an unusual request.
Winter’s Bone (2010) – Jennifer Lawrence stars as a girl who is hunting for her father while keeping her family together.
Don’t watch all of these at the same time – you will be an emotional wreck!
