Searching

Director Aneesh Chaganty’s laptop thriller follows everyday like of the family through home videos and video chat footage. After his 16-year-old daughter goes missing, a desperate father breaks into her laptop to look for clues to find her. This well-intentioned film and with good ideal as it is fresh, different, invented and watchable. The acting is reasonable but there are massive flaws in this film just like it doesn’t gripped you as much as it should be, certain scenes in this film is inconsistent like he turn up at the cinema and confronted a teenage and punch him, it doesn’t ring true.

Okko’s Inn

After losing her parents in a car accident, Okko starts living in the countryside with her grandmother who runs a traditional Japanese inn. While she prepares to be the next owner of the inn, Okko can somehow see friendly ghosts. This is generally moving and you can connect with these characters and for me personally the strength of this film is the story telling and all the characters actually link in and their backstory of them. I personally think it only a bit disjointing in certain scenes and it does not reach the height like The Breadwinner but it still a really beautiful film.
