20.Kung Fu Panda (2008 – 2016)
Continuing his legendary adventures of awesomeness, Po must face two hugely epic, but different threats: one supernatural and the other a little closer to home. This is generally affectionate, funny, action packed and a well-meaning film that brim with comic timing especially the voice casting.
19.Shark Tale
When a son of a gangster shark boss is accidentally killed while on the hunt, his would be prey and his vegetarian brother decide to use the incident to their own advantage. This is a colourful tale with eccentric characters and the voice cast is superb and their comic timing is spot on, it is funny, affectionate, charming and a well-meaning film.
18.Despicable Me (2010 – 2013)
While Gru, the ex – supervillain is adjusting to family life and an attempted honest living in the jam business, a secret Arctic laboratory is stolen. I really like this film because it is totally different to compare it to a superhero film because it based on the villain perspective from it, it is laugh out loud funny, affectionate and action packed, brim with comic timing as well.
17.Bee Movie
Barry B Benson, a bee just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his lone career choice: making honey, on a special trip outside the hive, Barry’s life is saved by Vanessa, a florist in New York City. A colourful tale of courage and with eccentric characters, it is a perfect family film with a laugh out loud funny and with a superb story and the voice cast is spot on.
16.Chicken Run
Chicken Run is a comedy escape drama with a touch of passion set on a sinister Yorkshire chicken farm in 1950’s England, When a cockerel apparently flies into a chicken farm, the chickens see him as an opportunity to escape their evil owners. A generally beautiful story and with spot on comic timing especially from the voice cast, this is a British film and it is charming, funny and generally heartfelt.
15.Inside Out
After young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness – conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school. An enchanted tale with colourful characters and this is relatable to everyone especially kids and get in the mind of a young person, it is funny, emotional and a beautiful story that reminded you of your childhood.
14.Monster House
Three teenagers, DJ, Chowder and Jenny think that after mean old man Nebbercracker died from a heart attack at his house, they all think it’s over, but they are wrong because the house come alive. This is a beautiful soulful story that will enchant people and it is relatable, the visual is amazing with colourful characters and this is well written.
13.The Adventures of Tintin
Intrepid reporter Tintin and Captain Haddock set off on a treasure hunt for a sunken ship commanded by Haddock’s ancestor. This attractive looking film and with stars studded voice cast and they are spot on, it is generally funny, thrilling, action packed and intriguing look at the iconic famous characters.
12.Rango
Rango is an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the town Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West in desperate need of a new sheriff. This is a usual tale of a person not being true to himself and try to be someone else in front of people, like identity crises but along his way he learn just be true to himself and impress people all the time. I can connect with this film because of the message, it is funny, affectionate, thrilling and heartfelt with colourful characters and the voice cast is spot on.
11.The Polar Express
On Christmas Eve, a young boy embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express, while learning about friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas. This is a spectacular and attractive looking film that is suitable for all ages and this is a perfect family film, the voice casting is spot on and a story that you would connect to and the visual is outstanding.
10.The Breadwinner
In 2001, Afghanistan is under the control of the Taliban. When her father is captured, a determined young girl disguises herself as a boy in order to provide for her family. This is an enchanting tale that take you on a journey through the eyes of a young girl, it is generally beautiful and with a superb story, the cinematographer is absolutely amazing and you would connect with this film.
9.Big Hero 6
The special bond that develops between plus sized inflatable robot Baymax, and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who team up with a group of friends to form a band of high – tech heroes. A beautiful film that would capture people heart and it is funny, emotional, gripping and action packed. I like the way that it deal with grief as well in this well-made film that everyone can connect to.
8.WALL.E
In the distant future, a small waste – collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind. A stunning and heartfelt film that everyone can connect to and the storytelling is excellent, the visual in the film is absolutely amazing and out of this world. You would connect with these characters and it is funny, thrilling, emotional and action packed that would suitable for all ages.
7.Finding Nemo (2003 – 2016)
Not long after Nemo is found and returned home safely from his adventure, his friendly but forgetful blue tang fish pal, Dory, begins to remember bits and pieces of her past, as she ventures out on her own to begins searching for her long – lost parents. Both films are excellent and the storytelling is superb and you would connect with these colourful characters, the voice casting is spot on and with comic timing and this is perfect for a family film.
6.Monsters Inc (2001 – 2013)
In the world behind our closet doors, monsters like Mike and Sulley work hard for their income. To be exact, the monster would depend on our children’s screams, in the second film it focused on their friendships / relationship while they are younger and in university and how they met. Both films are superb and you would connect with these colourful characters, the storytelling is excellent in this thoughtful tale that based on an unlikely friendships and it is funny, uplifting and heartfelt, this is perfect for a family film.
5.Toy Story (1995 – 2019)
A cowboy doll is profoundly threatened and jealous when a new spaceman figure supplants him as top toy in a boy’s room, all of the toys go on numerous adventures and go on a journey of self-discovery. This is a cute and heart-warming film that you would connect with these characters and great storytelling, this is a perfect family film.
4.Zootropolis
In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox must work together to uncover a conspiracy. This a usual tale of a whodunnit type of a film with colourful characters, this is clever, funny, engaging and the most well intention film and you would connect with these characters, the voice casting is superb and also their comic timing.
3.Mr Peabody & Sherman
The time – travelling adventures of an advanced canine and his adopted son, as they endeavour to fix a time rift they created, Penny and Sherman visit Maria Antoinette in Versailles during the French Revolution in 1798, visit King Tut in Ancient Egypt and meet Mona Lisa in the process. A fantastic tale of friendships and a mini history lesson for kids and adults alike, the voice casting is spot on in this heart-warming film.
2.Up
78-year-old Carl Fredricksen travels to Paradise Falls in his house equipped with balloons, inadvertently taking a young stowaway. This is a multi-layered story of love, loss and looking back on memories that everyone connect to, the visual is stunning and it is definitely heartfelt and it is uplifting. You will cry, laugh and enthralling and engaging in this wonderful film.
1.Kubo And The Two Strings
A young boy named Kubo must locate a magical suit of armour worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past. This is a majestic and eye catching from start to finish and the cinematographer is superb, the voice casting is spot on and their comic timing as well. I know there are mild darker scenes in this film but it’s a simple story and with superb storytelling that you go on a journey and being enthralling in this film, you can connect with this film as it is generally uplifting and you will love it.
