10.Small Soldiers

After military manufactured computer chips are put in a line of action figures, they end up with minds of their own and try to invade an Ohio suburb, and do battle with another line of toys that have the same chips. This one definitely more suited to families and kids alike in this enjoyable and entertaining film, it is definitely a robot type of films as it sort like a junior version of Jurassic Park but without the dinosaurs, only action figures instead of dinosaurs in a non-violence film, as the vocal talent is out of this world, in this watchable film.

9.Transformers (2007 – 2011)

An ancient struggle between two Cybertronian races, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, comes to Earth, with a clue to the ultimate power held by a teenager and travel around the world to try to defeat the Decepticons. It definitely was a real surprised with this as it is character driven with a load of action, as it blended with human connection mixed in with the action which work really well and this is sheer entertaining as well.

 8.Terminator 2: Judgement Day

A cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her ten-year-old son, John Connor, from a more advanced and powerful cyborg. With a perfectly sinister baddie, the soundtrack which is generally powerful and the acting is certainly made this film so special. The brilliant story that is involving with the action which is certainly spectacular which make this film into a cult classic to some people, I see the reason why.

7.Zathura: A Space Adventure

Two young brothers are drawn into an intergalactic adventure when their house is hurled through the depths of space by the magical board game they are playing. People will love this because it has got a really good story with great chemistry between the stars of this film, the visual effect with CGI/SFX is outstanding, and it just eye catching from start to finish.

6.I, Robot

In 2035, a technophobic cop investigates a crime that may have been perpetrated by a robot, which leads to a larger threat to humanity. Brilliant ending with this thought-provoking film that just drawn you in from the first frame, it has got a good cast and the cinematography is outstanding which made this highly compelling in an action-packed film that bring you excitement and joy at the same time.

5.Earth To Echo

After receiving a bizarre series of encrypted messages, a group of kids embark on an adventure with an alien who needs their help. A gem of a film that is so underrated and it is a coming of age found footage type of film in which the nonprofessional cast is exceptional, in some way it a bit like indie version of ET and the finale is so moving with a brilliant soundtrack. It is one of those film that is so memorable and people will automatically fallen in love with this film.

4.Ex Machina

A young programmer is selected to participate in a ground – breaking experiment in synthetic intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a highly advanced humanoid A.I. Claustrophobia, tension, suspense, unpredictable and highly intelligence film that is thought  provoking and it is definitely memorable. I like the way it just the three main people in this film which made this compelling to watch in a surprisingly effective film with an ending that you didn’t expected.

3.Hugo

In 1931 Paris, an orphan living in the walls of a train station gets wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton. It is one of those film that is so beautiful and with colourful characters which the acting is amazing, a sincere tale with stunning cinematography made this a worthwhile watch and the storytelling is easy to follow and with a likeable lead in Asa Butterfield, It is suitable for a family viewing in this gem of a film.

2.Big Hero 6

A special bond develops between plus – sized inflatable robot Baymax and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who together team up with a group of friends to form a band of high – tech heroes. An unlikely friendship that blossom in this beautifully majestic film which certainly bring you laughter, tears, soulful and life affirming as well. It is funny and tender at the same time and it taught kids with grief and how you deal with it and finding yourself in a world which I personally connect with that message, the soundtrack is really catchy in a really cute film.

1.WALL.E

In the distant future, a small waste – collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind. I personally put this film first and the reason why is, it got all the element of a perfect family viewing and it is definitely kids and adult will enjoy this film, it taught the kids of love and the meaning of it and just be yourself which is an important message to everyone. The animation is gorgeous to look at in this thoroughly entertaining thrill ride type of film that is enchanted to watch.

  1. Good selection Mark. As always, here’s some older recommendations from me:
    The first Alien film – Ash is one of the creepiest robots ever in a film.
    Robocop – half human but still a robot. Clue’s in the name.
    Westworld – Yul Brenner as the Gunslinger
    Forbidden Planet (1956) – Robbie the Robot one of the all time greats!
    And don’t forget R2D2 and C3PO from Star Wars.
