10.Parasite

Greed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan. A very clever twisted physiological film that it has twist after twist and it is certainly unpredictable, it is thrilling and it is totally gripping from start to finish in this engrossing and suspense type of film. The ending is very good and it is superbly crafted and a very intelligent film.
9.The Water Diviner

An Australian man travels to Turkey after the Battle of Gallipoli to try and locate his three missing sons. This is the first major movie outing for Russell Crowe as he director and star in this film, a fantastic story that is so majestic and the supporting cast is so convincing, the pacing is excellent and you actually care with these characters and that what made this film so good.
8.News Of The World

A civil War veteran agrees to deliver a girl, taken by the Kiowa people years ago, to her aunt and uncle, against her will. They travel hundreds of miles and face grave dangers as they search for a place that can call home. A thought-provoking story that is so real and with fantastic soundtrack with the acting especially Tom Hanks is amazing, it certainly drawn you in from the first frame that made this a compelling film.
7.The Life Ahead

In seaside Italy, a Holocaust survivor with a day-care business takes in a 12 – years – old street kid who recently robbed her. Beautiful cinematography and generally touching, moving and charming and with people that you truly care for, the premise is superior and the acting is outstanding in a sincere film that will capture people heart.
6.Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron

A wild stallion is captured by humans and slowly loses the will to resist training, yet, throughout his struggles for freedom, the stallion refuses to let go of the hope of one day returning home to his herd. In this hand drawn animation which is beautifully done with an all – star vocal cast and the scenery is out of this world, it is a thrill ride type of film and you can go on a journey with those people in this film. It is stunning and charming and it is suitable of all ages and it definitely a family film, which have a message of finding and accepted yourself in a world, which I personally connect to, in a superbly made film.
5.Motherless Brooklyn

In 1950s New York, a lonely private detective afflicted with Tourette’s Syndrome ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend. Definitely one of the better murder mysteries and whodunnit type of film, it has got big names star which they are really good and especially Gugu Mbatha – Raw as she is so underrated. I like the way it not overcomplicated and it made you think without becoming confusing at the same time, the ending of this is so moving and really sincere and the story is amazing, with a really good film that is so engrossing.
4.Balloon (2018)

East Germany, 1979. After initially failing to flee from the East to the West in a self – built hot – air balloon, two families struggle to make a second attempt, while the East German Police are chasing them. Compelling, tense, unpredictable and intelligent film that it has a got a mixture of a perfect film and it is flawless. Stunning acting with a character driven type of film that made this a one to watch and it is highly rated in a brilliant film.
3.My Octopus Teacher

A filmmaker forges an unusual friendship with an octopus living in a South African kelp forest, learning as the animal shares the mysteries of her world. Life affirming and it just real and people will connect to this, stunning cinematography and the underwater scenes is just breathtakingly beautiful. It is soulful and an eye opener and it just drawn you in from the first frame, it is one of those that is suitable for all the family and just enjoy it.
2.Crip Camp

Down the road from Woodstock, a revolution blossomed at a ramshackle summer camp for teenagers with disabilities, transforming their lives and igniting a landmark movement. So definitely an eye opener and this is life affirming and people will certainly connect to it and it ring true for me personally, the first half is character driven and the second half it is political and it blended well, it also one of the best documentaries and it is definitely a must watch.
1.My Neighbour Totoro

When two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby. Colourful, funny, cute and gorgeous looking animation film that basically about reminiscing your childhood, it is inventive and soulful and really different and don’t worry about the subtitles as it just watchable in this cute and relatable film. The non-professional voice cast is excellent and it is sincere and moving at the same time, it is suitable for all ages and adults and kids will love this film.
I was surprised to see that Kubo, The Breadwinner, and A Monster Calls are not in your Top 10.
