The House Of Magic

Thunder, an abandoned young cat seeking shelter from a storm, stumbles into the strangest house imaginable, owned by an old magician and inhabited by a dazzling array of automatons and gizmos. Overall this film seems rushed and there is sadly no character development and it not funny or moving, the story seems a bit weak and it is one of those animation films didn’t really reach the height and the vocal talent is just okay but nothing spectacular.

Two Brothers

Two tigers are separated as cubs and taken into captivity, only to be reunited years later as enemies by an explorer who inadvertently forces them to fight each other. I’m normally a massive adventure film fan but this one is really weak, a thinly plotted story that doesn’t really wowed you and once you watching all the film you will forgot about it as it not memorable enough, It not really a kids film at all and it is a massive let down.

One Night In Miami

A fictional account of one incredible night where icons Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown gathered discussing their roles in the Civil Rights Movement and cultural upheaval of the 60s. On paper this could be amazing and it could have been something special but it definitely fails in so many ways, this also based on a play by Kemp Powers but this film feel like a play and it feels staged and it doesn’t feel like a proper film with the four people in this film, the supporting cast feel side-tracked in a film which is too much for some people.

Ballerina

An orphan girl dreams of becoming a ballerina and flees her rural Brittany for Paris, where she passes for someone else and accedes to the position of pupil at the Grand Opera house. I really wanted to love this as the moral is chasing your dream and never give up and I can connect to this message, it is a beautiful story with great characters and it can be funny but never laugh out load and it not quite there. It can be too predictable and it becoming too safe and it is not quite as memorable enough.

Finding Ohana

A summer in rural O’ahu takes an exciting turn for two Brooklyn – raised siblings when a journal pointing to long – lost treasure sets them on an epic adventure with new friends, and leads them to reconnect with their Hawaiian heritage. A coming-of-age type of film that has got stunning scenery and with eccentric and different characters, this adventure film almost ticked all the boxes but sometimes it feel too cartoony like with flashback which completely ruined this film and it doesn’t needed that, despite that it still an entertaining film.

The Woman In The Window

An agoraphobic woman living alone in New York begins spying on her new neighbours, only to witness a disturbing act of violence. Don’t read the review of this film as I totally ignored them and this film bring you tense, suspense and totally unpredictable, it is one of the best films from Amy Adams as she is so good and the rest of the cast are superb. It is compelling to watch and it is so watchable with an unrecognisable of Gary Oldman as he is so sinister, the only thing is in certain bits of the film doesn’t ring true, it will gripped you from start to finish.

Nomadland

A woman in her sixties, after losing everything in the Great Recession, embarks on a journey through the American West, living as a van – dwelling modern – day nomad. This is my favourite film of 2021 as it is so moving and heart-breaking at the same time, I’m not normally a massive Frances McDormand fan but she is so amazing and the rest of the cast is superb. The stunning scenery is amazing and this is one of those film that is so memorable.
