A bullied teenager comes back from the dead to take revenge on his classmates who has treated him so badly. Comedy horror can be hit and miss but this one is different as this aimed at teenagers, it might be brutal but the film in whole didn’t take itself too seriously and it balance the laugh with the darker moment and it does work really well.

9.House Of Wax

A group of teens are unwittingly stranded near a strange wax museum and soon must fight to survive and keep from becoming the next exhibit. With certain slasher film they just rushed it but this one take it time and getting to know the characters, I know certain people really don’t like slasher film and that is totally understandable, at least there is a real story underneath it all.

8.From Hell

In Victorian – era London, a troubled clairvoyant police detective investigates the murders of Jack the Ripper. A real-life true story that blended with the horror element and this is utterly unpredictable, it is one of those film that will drawn you in from start to finish and it is well casted and the pacing is perfect.

7.Eden Lake

Refusing to let anything spoil their romantic weekend break, a young couple comfort a gang of loutish youths with terrifyingly brutal consequences. A mere 200 yards from shore, surfer Nancy is attacked by a great white shark, with her short journey to safety becoming the ultimate contest of wills. Some people might not think this is a horror film, with certain shark films they are actually as this one is one of the best and it is definitely tense and totally unpredictable, the main lead is likeable and the film in whole is very exciting.

Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of three people, with the culprit being the legendary apparition, The Headless Horseman. A good old-fashioned story that set-in period times and the creepy atmosphere is certainly spooky, there is a lot of jump scares that is effective and it is well casted plus the good thing about it, it balance the darker aspect mixed in with the lighter moment in this film, in a classic film that is a timeless tale.

Not your average slasher film as this one is totally unpredictable, the plot and the story somehow connected together to make this a clever and highly intelligent film.

A husband and wife who recently lost their baby adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she appears. Personally I’m not normally a massive fan of creepy child horror type of film, this one is superb and well made with an unbelievable twist and that what made this film so special, Isabelle Fuhrman is amazing as the sinister child in this superbly crafted film that is so watchable.

2.A Quiet Place

In a post – apocalyptic world, a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra – sensitive hearing. Firstly the first hour of this film is definitely tense, unpredictable, spooky and with creepy atmosphere, the second hour is utterly gripping and this film will blow you away in this lesser-known film that is so effective.

1.The Secret Of Marrowbone

In 1960s rural America, a young man and his three younger siblings, who have kept secret the death of their beloved mother in order to remain together, are plagued by a sinister presence in the sprawling manor in which they live. The reason why this is my number one it has got a psychological edge mixed in with a fabled ghost story that is so engrossing, it also have a brilliant twist that is so unexpected in this surprisingly well – made film.

  1. I agree with you about the Secret of Marrowbone being a great story with an unusual twist.
This is not a genre that I know a lot about but I can make one suggestion – Braindead directed by Peter Jackson, best known for The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and King Kong. This was an early film he did that has the reputation of being the bloodiest films ever made, and is also a bit of a comedy.
