Mini Film Reviews Volume 41

Mosley

A species of creatures known as “thoriphants” rebel against their life of servitude and embark on a treacherous journey to find the fabled city of Uprights. From the start of this film seems promising and the idea is there, but unfortunately it feel rather forced and overall it losing your interest along the way and that is a real shame, it is colourful but the vocal talent is slightly bland.

Old

A vacationing family discovers that the secluded beach where they’re relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives into a single day. Too be honest with you I was so disappointed with this film, it has got potential and I love the story and the ambitious, it lacking the psychological element and the whole film feel unsure of itself.

Dream Horse

Dream Alliance is an unlikely racehorse bred by small – down Welsh bartender Jan Vokes. With no experience, Jan convinces her neighbours to chip in their manager earnings to help raise Dream in the hopes he can compete with the racing elite. It is one of those film that is well intentioned and it is well casted, I love the ending when the casting meet up with the real people, overall it is a feel-good type of film, the only thing is, it can feel slightly uneven in places.

The Courier

Businessman Greville Wynne is asked by a Russian source try to help put an end to the Cuban Missile Crisis. This isn’t perfect by any means and it doesn’t really gel together, it can be really patchy but the final third of this film is really good. Benedict Cumberbatch is amazing in his roles and it might not reach the height of other Wartimes films but despite that it is a well-made and a well-intentioned film.

Those Who Wish Me Dead

A teenage murder witness find himself pursued by twin assassins in the Montana wilderness with a survival expert tasked with protecting him and a forest fire threatening to consume them all. For me personally the chemistry with Angelina Jolie and Finn Little is superb, it is exciting with amazing set pieces and it is entertaining, there is a mini flaws the villains is slightly undeveloped but it still a really good film.

The Rescue

A chronicle of the enthralling, against – all – odds story that transfixed the world in 2018: the daring rescue of twelve boys and their coach from deep inside a flooded cave in Northern Thailand. Ultimately this is a moving account and the way the documentary look it is totally intriguing from start to finish, it is nearly perfect and there is a pacing problem for the first 45 minute from the start, despite that it is so tense and totally unpredictable.

9 (2009)

In a world destroyed in a war between man and machine, a hand – stitched doll with the number 9 written on its back comes back to life and try to save humankind. One of the best animation film and with stunning visual, the story is multi-layered and it is thought provoking and with stunning scenery, it will wowed you and it certainly leave you a lasting impression on you as it is totally memorable, if you wanted something different this film is ideal for you.
