10.Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil

Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora begin to question the complex family ties that blind them as they are pulled in different directions by impending nuptials, unexpected allies, and dark new forces at play. Surprisingly this is really good in this gorgeous looking film which has got a good story, it also got likeable lead and this one is a major improvement on the first film as this one got more to it.

9.Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway

Thomas and Bea are now married and living with Peter and his rabbit family. Bored of life in the garden, Peter goes to the big city, where he meets shady characters and ends up creating chaos for the whole family. Too be honest with you I wasn’t keen on the first film but this one is actually rather enjoyable, it also a family viewing type of film and overall this is a well – intentioned and it is well – made film.

8.Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

Harry Potter, Ron, and Hermione return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year of study, where they delve into the mystery surrounding an escaped prisoner who poses a dangerous threat to the young wizard. Of all the Harry Potter films this one certainly stand out and it has got a multi-layered story, it has got a star-studded cast and all of them are really convincing and Gary Oldman is perfect as Sirius Black in the third film of the chapter.

7.Terminator 2: Judgment Day

A cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her ten-year-old son John from a more advanced and powerful cyborg. Personally the visual is certainly out of this world in an old school type of film, the soundtrack is brilliant and overall the pacing is just perfect and it does hold your interested, James Cameron is a brilliant director and overall this is entertaining from start to finish.

6.The Dark Knight

When the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice. Remarkable and totally memorable and this one is more character driven and that is the key to this film, Heath Ledger is absolutely amazing as the villain in this thrill ride type of film which is generally exciting.

5.Despicable Me 2

When Gru, the world’s most super – bad turned super – dad has been recruited by a team of officials to stop lethal muscle and a host of Gru’s own, he has to fight back with new gadgetry, cars, and more minion madness. Quietly this is funny and heart-warming and with eccentric characters and it is a family viewing type of film, it is a crowd pleaser and it has got a simple story.

4.The Bourne Ultimatum

Jason Bourne dodges a ruthless C.I.A. official and his agents from a new assassination program while searching for the origins of his life as a trained killer. Overall this is enjoyable and entertaining and a thrill ride type of film, it also never get too overcomplicated and it is one of the best Paul Greengrass film, it also drawn you in from start to finish.

3.Death On The Nile (2022)

Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot’s vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture – perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Majestic and superbly made film with beautiful scenery and it is definitely intriguing from the first frame, an all – star cast and they certainly elevates this film as this is totally unpredictable and this is so watchable as this is so underrated.

2.Paddington 2

Paddington, now happily settled with the Brown family and a popular member of the local community, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen. Needless to say this is a cult classics and this is funny, heartfelt and it just a really nice film, Ben Whishaw is excellent as the voice of Paddington and this just a wonderful film which is pure escapism.

1.Toy Story 3

The toys are mistakenly delivered to a day – care centre instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it’s up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren’t abandoned and to return home. Lovable and relatable as this film is definitely suitable for all ages and a family viewing type of film, the vocal talent is amazing and brim with comic one liner and overall this is enjoyable, pure escapism and with a simple story and that is the key to this film.

  1. I would have included the Bourne series, Terminator 2, and Toy Story 3 as well Mark. I’m not sure that I would have counted Death on the Nile as a sequel as I thought all the Agatha Christie stories were stand alone although it did feature Poirot.
    Some other I would include are:
    Aliens – ramped up the tension from Alien moving from one to many alien creatures.
    28 Weeks Later – great follow up to 28 Days Later; switches the focus from London to a small community
    Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade – gives us the great Harrison Ford and Sean Connery double act.
    Godfather II – one of the rare sequels to improve on the original
    Blade Runner 2049 – we waited 35 years for the sequel but it was well worth it
    War for the Planet of the Apes – great trilogy which much improved on the original series.
    The Good The Bad and the Ugly – the climax of the Spaghetti westerns featuring the Clint Eastwood as the man with no name.
