Matilda tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a sharp mind and vivid imagination, dares to take a stand to change her story with miraculous results. Firstly this is a well-meaning film and it has got an all – star cast, the chemistry between Alisha Weir and Lashana Lynch is superb and the final third of this film is generally powerful and moving. Unfortunately, this feel too cartoony and rather silly in certain places and it doesn’t needed that in this film, I personally feel Emma Thompson is rather miscast in her role and she not quite scary or sinister as Miss Trunchbull, it can be slightly overlong as sometime the pacing is slightly off time to time. Despite that it is a family viewing type of film and it is a well-made film with a superb ending.
