Mercy (2026)
Set in the near future, a detective accused of murdering his wife has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to an advanced AI judge. I admire this film that tries to be something different. The idea and the story behind this film is superb; those are the positives. Unfortunately the film itself seems rushed, it can gets too overcomplicated in places; it can feel too hyperactive as the film itself never calm down, also I didn’t get into the film itself and that is a real shame; I don’t want to be too harsh on this film as underneath it all the story is there, for me personally it didn’t quite work.
Fire Island (2022)
A group of queer best friends gather in Fire Island Pines for their annual week of love and laughter, but a sudden change of events might make their last summer in gay paradise. Watchable LGBTQ film which is charming and heartfelt. It can be funny in places in this film, the casting is believable and totally convincing. For me personally this can feel slightly safe and it doesn’t offer you anything new, it doesn’t leave you a lasting impression on you; despite that this isn’t a bad film, it also a well-made film.
Enola Holmes 3
Detective Enola Holmes heads to Malta, where her aspirations merge in her most complex and dangerous case yet. Entertaining and action-packed film with a good story. The casting is perfect and brims with comic one liners, this is perfectly watchable; it lacks the charm of the previous films, the villain isn’t as memorable or sinister; the film itself running out of ideas, this isn’t a bad film as it got amazing set pieces; it still pretty good.
Where The Crawdads Sing
A woman who raised herself in the marshes of the Deep South becomes a suspect in the murder of a man with whom she was once involved. Previously I watched this film in the past and I give it two stars, so I thought I revisit this film; It was moving and silently powerful without being too sentimental, the flashback elements never get too overcomplicated. It could be hard to watch for some people; it might not gel or flow together as much, if you get past that this film will surprised many people.
The Conjuring: Last Rites
Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one last terrifying case involving mysterious entities they must confront. A vast improvement on the third film as this is surprisingly moving. The pacing is perfect as it does hold your interest, there are some impressive jump scares, it might not gel or flow together as much; despite that this is silently creepy, overall this fourth film is surprisingly good and memorable.
No Ordinary Heist
Inspired by the true 2004 Northern Bank robbery, two feuding bank employees are forced to execute Ireland’s biggest heist after criminals kidnap their families and threaten to kill them. Too be honest with you this is surprisingly good. It generally moving and it has got a good ending, it got twist and turns throughout this film, it lacks the psychological aspect but it still draws you in, it will surprised many people.
