Mini Film Reviews Volume 130

Cleanskin

A British secret service agent is faced with the task of pursuing and eliminating a British – born suicide bomber and his terrorist cell. Firstly I do like the genre of spy thriller, action and drama with this film. The story is there with this film and those are the positives; but unfortunately the violence itself can overshadowed the film, there is a lot of sex scene and the movie itself isn’t as subtle, it also takes itself too seriously; I don’t want to be too harsh on this film as the idea is there, it didn’t quite work for me personally.

Six Days Seven Nights

Robin Monroe, a New York magazine editor, and the gruff pilot Quinn Harris must put aside their mutual dislike if they are to survive after crash landing on a deserted South Sea island. It’s the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Anne Heche that made this film watchable. It can be funny in places with this film, but unfortunately it doesn’t offer you anything new or fresh, it feels too safe and too predictable; despite that the story is brilliant and the acting is spot on, overall this is an enjoyable film.

Song Sung Blue

Lightning and Thunder, a Milwaukee husband and wife Neil Diamond tribute act, experience soaring success and devastating heartbreak in their musical journey together. Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson got excellent chemistry together. It has got catchy soundtrack which is quietly powerful, this has the underdog type of vibe which you needed, for me personally it doesn’t offer you anything new or fresh; it feels too safe and too predictable, despite that the acting is superb as this is pretty good film.

Opal Dream

A young girl’s relationship with her imaginary friends resonates throughout her town in the Australian Outback. Got to admit something this film actually surprised me. This is moving and quietly powerful without being too sentimental, the acting is convincing and totally believable; it might not be for everyone and at least it try to be something different which is refreshing, it might not gel or flow together as much; I reckon it will surprised many people with this film, if you wanted something different this is ideal.

Unabomber

Ted Kaczynski’s dark transition from Harvard genius to notorious Unabomber unfolds while the FBI conducts an intense, nation – wide manhunt to stop him. Just be patience with this film as this is a slow burner. The acting in general is absolutely amazing, it is nearly a five stars film; when the film flip back with the flashback elements it loses the psychological aspect, it got twist after twist throughout this film, it will draw you in.

Supergirl (2026)

Kara Zor – El, aka Supergirl, joins forces with an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice when an unexpected adversary strikes too close to home. Lovingly made superhero film which is surprisingly good. This is more character driven than you expected, it got the flashback element which never gets too overcomplicated, you will care about with these characters; it might be action packed but it never loses the story itself, this film is genuinely funny and it is entertaining.
